The Case of Unique Toys War Lord Combined

Postby GotBot » Mon Feb 05, 2018 4:28 pm

As I continue to reflect on releases based on the character of Predaking that we have today in 2018, and as we count down to the reveal of his upcoming titan class version, I round off my look at the Unique Toys War Lord entry and see how well he stacks up. It is a matter, mostly, of finding the right place in the right collection. As such, I also take the time here to compare him with several other well-known figures, including Primus, Combiner Wars Devastator, Bruticus and Superion as well as even Power of the Primes Grimlock.

I think G1 Predaking (no matter where the toys come from) should mainly be compared to Devastator for accurate scaling. And comparing UT Warlord to CW Devy, I think he's too small. He should be at least chest height, which means all 5 Predacons should be Voyager sized. And you mispronounced 'Computron.' :-P

Very interesting logic there and thanks for getting involved and sharing your thoughts. I would argue that CW Devy is grossly oversized since, based on G1 toys and animation he should be smaller than the other combiners, even eith Machinima he is only the same size, but I give the CW a pass because it IS six construction vehicles and they are typically quite large. Based on what you say though, I totally see where you are coming from and it SHOULD be very interesting in light of that to see what gets unveiled in a couple weeks. You likely as well see merit to Rex and will likely like the next discussion when we look closer at him....kind of. Funny how different collectors have different ideas on what does and does not work. I would be shocked if I misprounouced Computron since he is my favorite combiner, I'd love to know what you heard lol. Dang it, I will need to research that section of the video now. Might have simply been the newfie accent, but, who knows, maybe I did and missed it in editing. It was a long recording day brother lol.

Well maybe I have it wrong. I always pronounced the first syllable in Computron the same way I do in the word 'computer' as if you were to say 'computer' but left off the 'er' and added 'ron' in its place.

Also, while I like Warlord for the most part, I do think he should be bulkier. His waist is too narrow.

I probably just said it quickly with my provincial twang lol. Which might well sound incorrect.
Seeing how his torso goes, I can see the argument for a wider waist. I wonder though if that would hurt articulation? I like this guy having his own slender look but I always say that I can understand why folks think bulkier matches the character better. Bulk seems more....predatory.
