i absolutely loved it. though i am a fan of this kind of music
however, i think if you've got f**king huge ass robots kicking each others asses, then you need a decent heavy rock song like this. theres no two ways about it really,
Awesome montage of clips to. kick ass

I thought it was pretty decent. I always liked the version by Lion, but it wouldn't work in today's musical climate. This one is definitely better than that atrocious Mutemath song, who I hope goes down as a novelty band for recording that (kind of happened to Lion that way, too). As someone who has spent some time recording vocals, I think they should have put a bit of flanger or delay on the singer's voice, though.

Yes I Would!!! I think this one is worlds better than anything thats going to come off that new, S**t soundtrack(the Smashing Pumpkins have a shot tho). The style of this one is'nt really my cup of tea, but neither was the Lion version, but hell, that made me think twice. This one made me feel good listening to a TF theme. If they would have made this the theme of choice, i think more people would have been happy with the soundtrack(oh also replace all the other bands with, you know, GOOD bands).

that actually was pretty good. better than that MM one for sure, but there is some stuff that could be better with it. i do like how there is a video to go with it though.

hey everyone. paul durham here, the singer from black lab. I've been reading your posts and thinking - "wow, maybe they're right. maybe my singing does suck!"
so I came up with an alternative: I put our instrumental version of 'the transformers theme' up at blacklabworld. com/transformers, so that you can go and grab it and maybe lay your own vocals down. we're having a karaoke contest over there and figured that someone here must have some vocal chops. just import the mp3 into your fav multitrack recording program, get your mic, do your thang, then mix it and send it to us at contact @ blacklabworld. com.
I'll post it -- good or bad -- and then we'll have some kind of vote or something. winner gets free stuff.
or -- you can use the track for mashups or your own private karaoke uses. give it the ole' Lion!
ok, thanks,
paul

Nah. Your singing definitely doesn't suck. I think the problem is just with the style you deliver the vocals on this song. It feels like the vocals are dragging a bit and sound unenthusiastic. To me it doesn't quite fit the mood of the song.
But I'm just a metalhead who's used to super powerful and/or versatile vocalist like Warrel Dane, Russell Allen, Matt Barlow and Devin Townsend to name drop a few, so my comments about vocals shouldn't be taken that seriously. And I've never produced vocals on songs. :P
Just checked some of your songs on your Myspace page. Vocals fit very well on your original songs. On many parts they really remind me of a UK band called Anathema.
Seems like you've also got the gist of cutting out the middle man. Nice. I applaud. See. ->

you could always do the lyrics over again if you really want paul. make it more enthusiastic as Distorted mentioned, but i really do like how it is now. i REALLY like how you sing TRANSFORMERS, how its wispy and what not. that's probably the part most people hate too

Yeah i agree, your singing doesnt suck, but when you sing TRANSFORMERS you sound very....quiet almost, like you are mumbling. At one point it sounded like you was saying "transfromers" too.
Maybe put more enthusiasm into that part of the song and use some higher pitched vocals at times too since you sounded very monotone throughout the song.
Listen to the original theme for the movie by...erm....shite what was the name of that band again? NRG or something? Anyway you know what song i mean, and try to emulate how the singer on that song sang. It'll fit the music very well, and us fans will love it.

the original is done by Lion. one part that does bother me is before the break(solo in the original). i think it should sound more exciting and louder, and then have the part after that more exciting as well, perhaps a solo like the original. i know it will be the same idea as the original, but it will sound so good!

I don't think you're a bad singer, I like the songs on your myspace, and this really sounds good, although I think the "Transformers" part of the chorus could be stronger. I love the rest, though. At first, I wasn't crazy about it, but after several listens, it has grown on me a lot. Wish this was on the soundtrack.
