Collection almost at 1,000

Postby BlackHawk » Sat Jan 27, 2007 11:42 am

Well, I'm only 10 away from having 1,000 transformers. It's been a long, tough road but I'm almost there. I just had a baby on the 23rd and I'm wondering about putting plexiglass on my shelves. Do ya'll think I should just screw the glass into the shelves or put a "door"? since I have like 8 shelves full, I only display them, so do you think it would be safer to keep the plexiglass sealed or allow an opening for me to get in and out at will?

I'd say go for a door. If while screwing in the plexy glass or after its done you should knock some over it would be a real pain to get to them to stand them up.

Plus you will still need to dust them now and again unless you can make the units completely air tight.

I haven't downloaded the pics from my camera. I moved them into my gameroom, so I'm gonna have to take new pics. Do you suggest taking pics of the shelves by two sections or standing back and getting the whole shelf?

I've thought about that, but it's going to be hard to manage because all of my shelves stand right next to one another. My gameroom is big, but there is a whole section where there is only half of a wall, so from downstairs all you'd see is the back of the shelf. I think I'll just go with the hinges and lock method on the plexiglass. I thought about building shelves into the walls themselves, but my wife said "Oh Heck NO!"...LOL

I feel ya. I don't know about it hitting a grand anytime soon, though. I'm almost to 600, and I'm about 8 months from moving out of my parents house, so Transformers may have to be back-burnered for an indefinate amount of time. Thanks for the support, dude!

No prob. Mine stayed in the attic for over 10 years. Then one day I brought em out and have been ticking my wife off since...lol. I'm still trying to convince her to let me spend $100 on MP Starscream...:(
