Probably getting rid of leftover merchandise.

My ideal situation:
2-Pack - Optimus Prime + Ultra Magnus
2-Pack - Jetfire + Grimlock
3-Pack - Starscream + Ramjet + Skywarp
2-Pack - Megatron + Astrotrain
2-Pack - Bumblebee + Rodimus
2-Pack - Cliffjumper + Mirage
If they did anything remotely like that, I'd definitely buy all of them. Could be a hell of a way to re-introduce the Classics characters & aesthetic to retail before Classics 2.0 comes out next year, not to mention drive the price back down for anyone looking for the originals.
Here's hoping!

They'll probably do Skywarp and Starscream.
And if so, BAM! Starscream gets bashed!

Wasn't Skywarp the one used with Ultra Magnus in the Battle for Autobot City set? I admit I'm splitting hairs a bit here, but this set wasn't convention exclusive, it was Target exclusive.
i_amtrunks wrote:A Voyager and a Deluxe pack and a 2 Voyager pack? Thats an odd move, as is chucking two of the same mold in the one pack...
Bet one set flies off the shelves, and the other sits there warming it.
See the set I was talking about above. Set was made up of repaints of Voyager Optimus and Deluxe Starscream, remember?

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

Left over merchandise? Really? Maybe...I suppose. Problem is I remember someone in this thread never finding Grimlock. After my birthday this year I never saw him again either (hence my being happy I jumped at the chance to get that one the last time I remember ducking into K-Mart).
Love that sig, by the way.

Jetfire is a leftover? Honestly, the only one I saw was for $50 at a Scalper store.

well it's pretty much my guess but judging from the previous 2-pack releases, they almost certainly were. the QC on that line was HORRIBLE. i saw BB/Trains with haphazard painting and misaligned panels, same w/ SSs...i thought the problem with my SS when i bought it as a 2-pack could be remedied, but no...
so here's hoping we don't get QC problems with this one, if it's ever going to be released.

Or we could go with:
Dirge - Thundercracker - Thrust
Just my thinking. Doubt we will ever see it though, but a bot can only hope, can he not?

Give me Starscream and Skywarp!!! I don't think I ever personally saw UM and Skywarp at Target, and didn't really have a chance to grab it, so I'm sort of kicking myself over that. But even E-Bay prices for the two of the would even out to less than it would be for Starscream! I really wish I got Starscream, cause barring Cliffjumper, he's the last single deluxe Classic I don't have. And I don't have a G1 colored Starscream either, so it'd be cool on both accounts.

Yeah, same thing happend with the Build Team Devastator Repaint and Overbite/Repugnus(I did pick up those Ov/Rep) last year. And I never saw that Robovision Prime at the nearest Target either. And I do remember reading threads that it went on clearance, what's up with the Target exclusives not getting any shelf time?

exactly why i'm complaining about the way Hasbro releases 2-packs, it seems that the previous 2-packs were released only in here and a few select countries because maybe they were leftovers from the production run with defects, that's why a lot of our 2-packs had QC issues. that's kinda racist in my opinion.
for those who never got the SS/Rod & BB/Train packs, don't worry - you saved yourselves a lot of trouble and dollars. you didn't miss anything at all.
i hope this time around, if this is truly an official release, Hasbro will take proper QC procedures to ensure quality toys for this line. i'd hate to pay almost $60 USD-converted (retail for a voyager here, x2) for a couple of misassembled/badly painted/loose-jointed figures.

Target puts any Transformers exclusives Hasbro gives them on clearance right away because they have no faith in the franchise. They are still traumatized by A/E/C's giant shelfwarmers (Supreme Starscream comes to mind)
And thus, no store within reasonable distance of me stocks TFs anymore. Right after June 2, they put everything on clearance, took the display down, took everything off the shelves and never replaced them with anything, took everything off the hooks, and took the hooks off. They never put a new TF on shelves/pegs after that. Not even old stock.

nobody listens to the QC issues!
well, here are pics of the QC problems with the 2-pack releases of Hasbro, AND HERE'S HOPING IT WON'T HAPPEN ON THIS WAVE OF 2-PACK RELEASES:
