Hi guys,

I'm very excited to be able to present this article on a hand-painted G2 Mirage mock-up created for the Generation 2 line in green and pink, but never released. Of course very recently this figure hit the mainstream consciousness by being featured in the Transformers Vault book. Its artwork was featured and here is the toy itself for your enjoyment!

I had actually prepared the article before I even realised this was featured in the Vault book as I had been out of the game for a few years so I wasn't aware of the project and certainly didn't expect this to show up in it!

I had no idea this existed until today. :shock:

I love these wacky G2 color schemes. I wish they would have made it to retail.

I will admit that if KO of these color schemes were made, I would probably buy them.

I suspect it was due to them deciding that it was the 90's now and Transformers could be much better articulated than their previous incarnations.

Then the ball/socket joint was invented and it was all magnificent.

With the colors you can definately tell they were from the early ninties. Neons were huge then, but this is ridicious. I'm suprised they did not release a Hammerbot with exchangable parachute pants!

Agreed with the above poster, give us a Classics homage! The obscurity alone would drive hardcore collectors into fits of drooling covetousness.

I love that Mirage !!! A classics would be marvelous!! it would have to have all the stickers on it like the package art depicts though.

It looks like i may have to grab a beater Mirage and try and pull this colour scheme off. Man i love those colours on him. =P~

. the stickers might be a bit tough to find though.

Sideswipe looks pretty sweet too.

I estimated it took about 6-7 hrs in all ...

I've got a Universe Classics Drag Strip that i forgot i owned that i just might paint into G2 Mirage.

I wasn't too keen on the colours on the mold anyways and to me it technically isn't Drag Strip without the 3rd set of wheels.

It only makes sense to paint it now that i think of it. :KREMZEEK:
