even so the rocky pilot can't box his way around his concussion blaster. If there are cassettes involved Soundwave wins without even a scratch, otherwise after a good dent to his calf speakers...

Soundwave superior, the Thing inferior

As a mind reader and super-sensitive-type person, Soundwave could find the Thing even when it is fully disguised. He could unleash all his cassettes on the thing. According to the wiki, there are a few dozen Decepticon cassettes. Ratbat might be able to drink the Thing through his fangs and then convert it to energon. Laserbeak and other eagle cassettes should be able to vaporise the Thing with their intense ruby lasers or similar. Whatever happens, the Thing needs to be totally destroyed or else it could regenerate itself later.

If Soundwave has to deal with the Thing alone, he should trap it in a force-field and incinerate it. He should capture it whole. If pieces break off, he should gather them up and put them in the force-field. If there are too many small parts, he should burn the whole area with plenty of napalm. Incidentally, the flames would make Soundwave look badass.
