Stickers applied or unapplied?

Postby Glitcher » Fri Nov 09, 2007 11:01 am

Today I just had the Predaking reissue delivered to my doorstep. (Yay, me!) Upon feverishly tearing the box to atoms and destroying any collector value (j/k), I found that the stickers were still unapplied by the previous owner - something I failed to notice in the item description. While I'm grateful for the opportunity to apply the stickers myself (badly), I wonder why the previous owner didn't apply them.

This seems to be common trait running through the community. When obtaining a valuable TF MISB, it seems the eager collector prefers to leave the stickers unapplied. I honestly don't see the point of this if the figure is going up on display. To pose Predaking without those lovely gold stickers applied would be a cosmic crime. Are you the type who prefers to apply stickers to a TF or not?

When I got my TRU Soundwave (the one with the double tape deck), even though I planned to leave him in his box, I opened him and applied his stickers.

To me, Soundwave just isn't Soundwave without his detailing. Then, back into the box he went! If I can remove, apply the stickers, and then put the Transformer nice and safe back into his box, I will.

put the stickers on, its your toy so do with it what you want, unless you plan on selling it in the near future.

I usually didn't put any stickers on my G1 figures when I was buying them new back in the 80's. To me, the figures looked more like their cartoon-selves without a random silver square on the leg or whatever it happened to be.

Anyway, to answer your question, I would say if he looks more like Predaking with them on then do it.

If you like the look of the stickers when it's on display, and aren't going to be selling it soon, then put them on!

Alternatively, you could buy the reprolabels and keep the original stickers intact, but then you'd be spending the money for those which would negate the value of a mint sticker sheet... but money issue aside, you'd still be keeping your old stickers intact.

Put them on.

Predaking looks worlds better with them.

However, don't rush it. Plan how you will apply them, especially Razorclaw and Divebomb. The placements aren't all that well guided, so you can mess it up easily.

too true especially for Razorclaw. ALso take care in moving his lion head as it can tear the stickers to shreads on his robot chest/lion back.

I always put on stickers unless I am keeping them MISP.

There isn't a TF I've bought that hasn't had the stickers applied, I love doing it, it's part of the magic I remember from my childhood. Any reissue or otherwise, if there's stickers to apply I do it.

At least I managed to fix Razorclaw's stickers somewhat. The rest are acceptable, but I was tempted to grab some tweezers to apply Divebomb's knee stickers. :?

Always. And if any of them have a clear backing, like MP-03's, if I had him, I would trim them with an exacto knife. It makes things look infinitely better.
