Transformers The Movie Too Sexualized?
I just bought the movie on DVD and watched it for the first time, I had to work the entire time it was out in theaters and didn't get off until 1am so I never got a chance to see it.
I found the movie pretty cool but is it just me or did they put too much sexuality in the movie? I mean I can imagine most of the older transfans took their kids to see the movie since it was something they loved at their age, I wonder if any of them had to cover their kids' ears/eyes from some of the stuff going on in the movie. I'm not trying to be a stick in the mud or anything, but who else found the movie to have too much sexual content in it?

Re: Transformers The Movie Too Sexualized?
We saw Sam and Mikaela hold hands, she sat on his lap in the car but they did have their clothes on and again at the end of the movie they did that too, he also did make a few innuendos about "wanting to go faster" with her and "I was wondering if I could ride you home".
The infamous masturbation discussion scene and that's really about all I can remember so it's not like they were tearing each others clothes off every other scene with overly sloppy scenes of public displays of affection or actual sex going on in a any of them.
The movie needed to show a connection on what is frequently with people that age a physical level first then an emotional one, later Sam shows concern for Mikaela when he tells the sector 7 agent to get rid of her criminal record.
The movie was not too sexualized for me and my 7 year old nephew was with me and 17 year old niece, neither one of them or their parents made an issue with any of it.

It wasn't over sexualized, just tuned to an older audience.
Remember how it barely escaped an "R" rating in the US?
My thing is, enjoy the movie for what it gave us, and until we can make a better one, let's not beat down a dead horse.

shill dude, there are alot worse movies out there for kids. Besides it's not like they're never gonna find out what some stuff means anyway. It's just part of life. All teens are gonna have those sort of feelings eventually. There was nothing in the movie a 7 hear old couldn't handel. I thought the masturbating joke was funny as hell.

I think they did more than they had to. The masturbation scene was totally uncalled for. And they don't need to keep showing off Megan Fox. I wonder how Bumblebee felt when they were on top of him.

Pretty much what I was talking about, it's a movie about Transformers no need for that type of stuff.

Its a movie about a teenager that comes into contact with these aliens and then helps them with their goal. It still has to show things that a normal 16 could possibly go through and a mother thinking her son is masturbating when he is acting suspicious in his room late at night is one those things that could happen. It was good for a laugh and nothing more. Don't over analyze the movie or you will put a bullet in your skull.

Funny story:
Some friends of ours took their 10-year-old boy to see it, and he asked them what "masturbation" means. They kept trying to shrug it off, but he wouldn't let it go, so they had to explain it to him!
So maybe that particular line might raise some eyebrows for younger kids, but as far as Megan Fox's outfits, etc., there wasn't anything I (as the father of a 3-y-o girl) would call inappropriate. She'd be wearing less in a bikini scene, for example. Even the last shot of her and Sam atop BB was very tame IMHO.

I'm just saying the masturbation scene is the only reason I wouldn't watch the movie in front of my parents or whatever. Now don't think I masturbate, okay!
But I can live with the other stuff.

It does not bother me at all.I found myself laughing when Sams mom asked about him 'masterbating' or when Ratchet said "The boys pharamone levels suggest he wants to mate with the female" I find that funny not bad or gross.Teenagers are just like that.

Why not? It's perfectly normal.

Actually my conservative spinster aunt laughed at that part, and I was watching it with her, and my parents. My dad thought the whole scene was lame, but there was no awkwardness about it.
Of course, I'm 27, so I'm not embarrassed by that anymore. I've been embarrassed by stuff like that in the past.
And I'm actually with the original poster on this one. Megan Fox's sweaty cleavage was definitely the star of the show, and it didn't need to be. Of course, I'm glad it was.
Buy my RiD toys! They're awesome, I promise!!!!

Re: Transformers The Movie Too Sexualized?
It had all the sexuality of a typical american movie, which is too little or too much depending on your POV. I thought the only line that was lame was the ratchet line. The mom scene was funny as hell.
and I think 10 is about that age to start talking about feeding the denim ogre... Having it brought up by the transformers movie is a lot better than some other alternatives.

I'm sorry, but that's just silly, people holding hands, cuddling, a kiss on the cheek, even masterbation are normal parts of life. Anyone offended by this must change in the dark with there eyes closed.
Regardless he movie is PG-13 and if any 13 year old isn't aware of these topics, they probably have more issues anyways.

Re: Transformers The Movie Too Sexualized?
The masturbation joke didn't bother me at all--I thought it was funny. I was, however, more offended by the way Megan Fox's character is portrayed.
"You think I'm shallow, don't you?"
Yep.
Sam doesn't want her because of her brain, or her personality, and--let's face it--neither do you. Yeah, there was a token bit of character thrown her way about her dad being a criminal... but that's there just to have her be a "damsel in distress."
She does redeem herself in the "I'll drive, you shoot" bit by doing something more than just looking sweaty, but that's rather late in the movie.
Megan Fox said it herself on the DVD--"Michael Bay basically asked me if I look good in a mid-riff and if I could run real fast" (paraphrased).
Sam's a nerdy looking guy. Let him have his heart set on someone who looks at least a little less than perfect, m'kay?

The movie did the same thing a lot of advertisements do. Sex sells and it helps sell the movie. Some people aren't going to like it, some are.
Personally I think it was all just a bit too obvious and "in your face" for the most part. If orange tanned skeletons bending provocatively over a cars are your thing though.... that's great.

There are no longer two, but three things that are certian in this world. 1.) Death 2.) Taxes and 3.) Sex will always sell.

wow this stuff is so old, you do know that?
This has been disgused so many times for so long.
Oh Michela was waring sexy stuff, well consider this:
1.She's a girl and girls want to look good
2.It looked like the weather was hot, would you be wearing long warm stuff?
3.It's a movie that's main audience is male.
Wat's wrong about masturbating?
1.It's natural and perfectly normal.
2.Men can get very sick if they don't.
3.Men have to get rid of there sperm at least 4 times a week.
4.It's in our nature to be sexually active in a very young age, 12 year olds were parents during the middle ages, well not the whole middle ages but the early middle ages.
That was a very funny scene, me and my whole family had a laugh at it.
Ratchets line about mating was awesome.
Besides, a kid at the age of 7 to 10 might not know what they were on about.
It's like saying that Donald Duck is perverse cos he doesn't ware trousers.

Re: Transformers The Movie Too Sexualized?
There are 2 scenes that are quite inappropriate, and unnecessary for a TF movie.
(1) The "masturbation" dialog. It's got very low taste the way it is delivered.
(2) Sam and Mikaela making out on top of BB at the end of the movie, with the camera focusing on Mikaela rubbing her "bumpers" on Sam's chest. It doesn't add anything to the movie. Just a bad aftertaste. It will be much more beautiful if we see them sitting on BB's hood, enjoying the cityscape view below, maybe have Sam's arm around Mikaela's shoulder. It would have been more touching and meaningful. Also adds homage points to the original TF cartoons.
Don't get me wrong. I'm no priest. I would certainly love to see Mikaela strip, and let those "things" bounce out.
But not in this movie.

Damn, the ending car scene was a beautiful sentiment, though I guess one has to be mature enough to understand the beauty of a physical relationship.
And, really, is there a better way to deliver on that scene in his room? It sounded just like I would've imagined.

The movie was PG-13, if I remember. Kids by then should be familiar with anything the movie showcased.

4. The girls who were parents at 12 frequently died in childbirth, and they had husbands who were older men. And most people aren't sexually active at that age today.
I didn't find the masterbation part too bad, but I didn't like the way Sam was gazing at her like he was intent to get into her pants and make little Witwickies. It is mainly because it took away from his character, it made him look like a pig. Not all teens are like that, I certainly wasn't. I didn't like Mikaela either, as she let him ogle her like that. I would have said "Do you mind?" if he stared at me like that. It didn't help that the scene called for the camera to pan over her body, so you were forced to look at her. I wanted to see robots kicking the tar out of each other, not humans making out and being in heat.
