I would have preferred a repaint and remolded head version of the RID combiner into Devastator that would have been a better choice..

I have the opposite problem.. Once I snap them into place I have a hard time separtaing them again..

Transformersland.com has him in stock for $35. If you don't have him yet, it's worth it compared to the price he's fetching for at some online shops.

Personally speaking, I'd rather have no Classics Devastator than what they spewed out.
I am beginning to incline towards the same sentiment. I will probably still get him, since he's a good toy, but in my mind I won't think of him as Devastator.
Man... I really hope that they will do a proper one for Classics 2.0, but that wouldn't be possible would it? Not without Hasbro losing face?

Slapping green & purple paint on horrible leftover Energon molds, changing names & dropping the team from 6 to 5 characters is one of the biggest brainfart ideas Hasbro has ever had... and I'm still astonished to this day that *anyone* bought into it, let alone claimed to like it. They absolutely wasted a golden opportunity to make an all NEW version of The Constructicons with the same style, detail & articulation of the other Classics by doing what they did, and I count it as the single biggest letdown of the entire line (so far). All it did was prove that Hasbro can & does release anything with the TF name on it and people will blindly praise it.
Personally speaking, I'd rather have no Classics Devastator than what they spewed out. And that goes for any new Classic that just ends up being a repaint of a crappy leftover mold from a previous line. If they're going to be that daft about it, they might as well just re-release more original G1's, repaint them and call 'em Classics.
Just because you say its not a real G1 Devastator the rest of us are stupid for thinking it is? Or for liking it?
I think its a good mold, so its missing a member, I think its Hasbro's way of getting more money out of a costly to engineer mold. Hasbro is a business. They don;t make moulds to please us, they make them to make money.
And just because they have a sound business sense doesn't make the choice a daft one or a brainfart. Its just what it is.
And what ,you are astonished people actually have differing opinions to yours, because they might like it, and think its a good mold. Grow up. Its a toy. just because it isn't exactly what Devastator looked like in G1 20 years ago, doesn't mean its a "steaming pile of cow dung figuratively speaking of course*

I use Corel Paint Shop Pro X.
I kinda rushed those a bit though, so they aren't as polished if you look up close. Also I tend to use Ryan's Larger Pictures from the Gallery, so I can zoom in close and do the selections as tight as possible.

Be glad you got Devastator at all, I bought the mold because I couldn’t find the original combiner back during Energon and besides, we will probably get a new one for Universe like Ultra Magnus.
Astonished at what? Just because YOU don’t like it doesn’t mean no one can, just so you know I love it, we wouldn’t have gotten new toys instead, even if they hadn’t made Devastator.

I admire how you overuse extremes. You could have just said "I don't like it".

(I think it's an okay mold, better than the Universe but I don't want it.)
