What kinds of Transformers toys do you buy?

:SEIBERTRON: All Transformers doesn't matter, I gotta have them all
:SEIBERTRON: All Transformers except for Non-transforming and Non-show characters
:SEIBERTRON: All Transformers except for Non-transforming toys
:SEIBERTRON: All Transformers except for Non-show characters
:SEIBERTRON: Only Transformers I like the designs of, doesn't matter if they are transforming, non-transforming, show, or non-show, if I like it I buy it, if I don't like it I won't buy it.

Personally it started out I wouldn't buy non-show characters but then it got to where I couldn't watch the show so I just started buying the ones I liked.

P.S. I wish we could make polls here so I could get a count without going through all the posts and counting resaults myself.

What about:

Only Transformers I like the designs of, doesn't matter if they are from the show(s)/movie, or non-show/movie, if I like it I buy it, if I don't like it I won't buy it. I won't buy non-transforming transformers.

'Cause that would be my pick. :)

All Transformers doesn't matter, I gotta have them all as long as they are G1 or somehow related to G1.

I confine my choices to selected series.

I like my TF toys to be a big family for one particular series. Not mix up mish mash of assorted series.

Although sometimes, you can pick up a toy or two from another series, and shove him into the particular series you're collecting. With or without repaint/modification.

For now, I'm focused on only 2 lines: Classics and Movie.

I buy only if they transform and only if they transform in humanoid robots and only if they are shown in the series (except for alternators).

Yup. Transformers should be able to transform. Otherwise, it's meaningless.

Not necesrily. Transformer toys need to be able to transform.

However, statues and models are not for the kiddies. They are made to be 100% anime accurate as statues are made for movie and comic characters from other ficticious storylines and for adult colectors, as is evidenced by their prices.

Using the old TF's should transform argument for models is like saying a 1:24 scale model car should start and run.

Besides, weren't you the one whose fave TF is BB Unleashed? Or am I confusing you with someone else? :???:

Good question. I won't go for the movie replicas, because they don't transform.

Also, FAB or cyber slammers don't appeal to me. Although some look very cool ... I'm just not into them.

Also, no real gear stuff for me either. Most look really corny. If I were to buy the ones that everyone raves about, the completionist in me would take over and inevitably buy 2 of each.

I better stay away.

I have been considering that disc tossing Frenzy though. His alt mode looks like a great display pc.

Other than that. Alternators, I have all but 6 currently. Classics, I'm all caught up ... 2 of everything. Movie, I'm caught up to 2 of everything and then some.

Other than those 3 lines, I only pick up what appeals to me from the other lines. I'm currently looking into RID rail racer.

You've confused me with someone else. :)

I mean Transformers toys.

I appreciate the statues and models. But not good enough to cause me to buy them. :)

The real fun in TF toys, for me, is to be able to see how they fit into a particular car shape. It's like playing a puzzle, or a geometry quiz.

That's how i enjoy these toys.

But that's just me.

I know of a lot of people who collects statues and other stuffs. :)

I almost exclusively buy the characters I like for the shows/comics I like, the more show/comic accurate the better. I make exceptions for lines such as Binaltech and Kiss Players which although not show accurate or from any particular show are awesome high quality interpretations of well know characters.

Oh totaly. I know that most TF collectors do so for the toys and toys alone. For me, it is more of a case of collecting the TF mythos along with nostalgia.

Hence statues, not busts mind you, have always really appealed to me as I can literally have a 100% anime accurate Wheeljack standing in from of me. i.e. me collecting mythos.

The G1 toys play into my collection for nostalgia purposes.

Thus I really do define myself as a TF mythos and nostalgia collector rather than a toy collector.

Ofcourse, everyone who knows me disagrees, but then, none of them collect so I don't think they see the subtle difference that I see. Or ofcourse, maybe I am just deluiding myself with words. ;-)

Recently, i've bought something new. For the first time. A TF item that does not transform.

TF Japanese Catalogue Magazine.

I try to go after the figures that are unusually, odd, or unique before anything else. Otherwise, I try to collect par excellence within the series.

mostly i buy what i like. If a figures in the show and i don't like it I'm not buying it. I mostly buy show characters though. Only if the figure is real cool will i buy a non-show. I am by no means a compleatest if so I'de be broke@ :P

Basically if it's G1 related I'll consider it. I mainly want the modern versions of those characters and so far I've got some Classics and Alternators but am also planning to get a Masterpiece Prime, the World's Smallest Dinobots,a Music Label Soundwave and maybe a few reissues.

I started collecting TFs start of the Energon saga. Basically any figure that transforms into a vehicle or flying jet. Paint themes matters most to me. Like Energon Starscream v1 & v2. Both appealed to me so i bought both versions(rarely i'd get 2 different paint design of a same mold). Also, i only collect plastic TFs, no Alternators or metal MPs. In addition, no animal or beast transforming figures. Just not my thing. Other than dat, i'm quite content with my current collection. My goal is 100 TFs. But with TF2(and possible TF3), i highly doubt it'd end there.

Weapon: Laser Scalpel
-must transform
-mostly small
-must be unique

for example if they made a mini-con that had light piping eyes and transformed into a gun it would be very hard for me to say no!

I gotta comment on two things realy quick and obviously I can't type I just deleted 2 typoes but I probly won't catch everything I've had 2 Magaritas and no food other than candy so I'm drunk and hypper right now.

ANYWAY... Show and Non-show INCLUDES movies, comics, novels whatever not just the series. It's just easier to say that than to list everything off.

Now about the statues, my opinion on statues is, they're statues! They're not made to be played with or kept in a box, they're made to be display items. They do look great for that purpus but I will not buy them no matter how good they are. Why? Because they are for DISPLAY and I have no place to DISPLAY them.

I do like Non-transforming figures as long as they're show characters and so many show characters that are non-transforming don't even have toys. I'd love to get a G1 Quentisson if I ever saw toys of them in stores and I do have Alpha-Q from Transformers Energon.

Alpha-Q kinda bothers me now though. I had never seen the series when I bought him but after watching some DVDs I realized he has 5 heads on the series but only 4 on the toy. (That's not a miss count the other 3/4 heads are inside a mouth of a 4th/5th head.)

Aside from transforming toys, i'd also prefer characters that appeared in tv or movie.

But not strictly.
