But I wouldn't mind them so much if they'd mix things up more. Like give us a mold that hasn't been available for a couple years, or swap on a different head every once in a while. Some minor retooling could make all the difference in the world. Suddenly it seems like a whole new toy.

Is it really that hard?

They do do that. They're called "BOTCON EXCLUSIVES". lol

= none of my business.

I might get the odd repaint, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna pay more for one.

But yeah, it's all good, cause I get to keep my money.

well, Botcon is an eventuality.. it's the ones that should have been no brainers for mass production that I took issues with.. but that's about it, overall i love the Botcon exclusives...sometimes I wish i had the cash to buy them, actually not the cash I have that it's the justification for them i didn't see, but 290.00 for a set of limited repaints seems still steep to me..

I have to say every figure is doomed to the repaint treatment.

yeah but what if those characters are never made?? I'd rather have a repaint from Hasbro then none of those characters after all.. or have Hasbro do the repaints instead of FunPub doing them and charging an arm and a leg for it..

Hasbro repaints are good...

I agree completely, which is why the Season 3 Mini-bots are some the best. Most of the same parts were used, but they all had new head/chest parts, arms in some cases, and looked completely different. The second generation of seekers(Ramjet, Dirge, Thrust) all had new wings, and that largely differentiated them from Starscream and co.

But any figure has a chance of being repainted, I have no preferences right now. Just no more Hot-Rod's for awhile.

I like repaints, but I agree with the rest of the sentiment.

A couple tweaks really go a long way to making a "simple" repaint much less maligned.
For Sale:

Currently looking for:
ROTF Target exclusive Sideswipe from the 2-pack

so what constitutes a simple tweak?? A head swap? arms, etc.. what makes that tweak turn a toy into a better version? what's a good example? classics cliffjumper?

EVERYTHING gets repainted/redecoed/etc because its an easy as hell way to cash in on a mold. Extremely easy. Its akin to Hasbro picking their collective nose and finding money inside. Can't blame 'em one bit.

I second what Skywarp is saying. Sure, I'd rather have new molds but given the choice between nothing and a repaint - I'll take the repaint. Repaints are an inevitability with TFs. The other option is for Hasbro to charge twice as much and not do repaints. I'd rather have the option to spend the additional money, rather than getting hit up front.

Movie Wreckage needs a repaint, can't belive it hasn't been done already considering it's one of the best deluxes ever.
