I was looking through what Transformers Marvel comics I had earlier in the week, and pulled out Transformers Universe(Profile Book) #4. I had forgotten that I had that, cause it was in a lot my brother had gotten for me last year. Anyway, I had never looked through it that intently, mainly cause it's just profiles, but while thumbing through it, I checked out Arbulus's and Kranix's profiles. And I saw that they transform? Here's links with pics of of their alts. and profiles:

Here's what I'm wondering: Is this an idea that was created by Hasbro, or the Marvel artist/writer who was in charge of their profile?

They never transform in the movie, to my knowledge, but I believe I heard a DVD commentary saying their planet was supposed to be just like Cybertron so that the stage would be set for Unicron's attack on it later in the movie. I guess the association by similarity was supposed to make things easier for audiences back in the 80's. However, I don't think they were just supposed to be Cybertronians on a new world (like colony). I think they were supposed to be a seperate species. They did, after all, appear to be having children...

They were small "t" transformers, as they transformed. They didn't belong to the race known as Transformers.
If it helps, they're in the same situation as the GoBots: they transform, but they're not Transformers.

For anyone who hasn't seen Spotlight: Sledge (and why not?!), my gritty and dark fanfiction piece "Holiday" is posted here.

Ah, thanks. To clarify, I was pretty sure they weren't part of the Cybertronian race, but I just thought that Marvel created some alts. specifically for the Universe book to somehow tie them to the Transformerverse. But that's pretty cool that they're another race of transforming machine like aliens, and that it's official.

The original story bords had both of them transforming while trying to excape Unicron's attack.......if you look up Marvels 1986 adabtation of the movie you will see them transform and not get into ships to excape.
I think that the original idea was that it was a colony of transformers that left cybertron long ago and thats why Marvel created alt modes for them.
