I've been thinking about checking out some Transformers comics and I just ordered the Target 2006 mini-series. What other comics do you recommend? I was mainly thinking of checking out the G1-themed comics published by Dreamwave and IDW, since the art looks amazing.

IDW comics are good, and if you can get over the fact that it gets retconned/redesigned from time to time, it can be good, I recommend reading them in publication order (especially the early -ation series and the spotlights are good)

Dreamwave: Had its moments, the WW comics are awesome, but the micromaster miniseries were just boring. Too bad the publisher went out of business in the middle of the good stories.


Also, the original Marvel comics are still the best, if you haven't read them allready, do it.

If you like Target 2006, I'd recommend the other IDW "Best of the UK" series going on right now - Prey.

Well I haven't yet read Target 2006; still waiting for it to arrive. To be honest, I haven't really been that impressed by what little I've read of Marvel Transformers comics from the '80s, but it seems like everyone says this is one of the best story arcs from that period, so I thought I'd check it out.
