Ok, so we all know TF exists in a multiverse of alternate/parallel/etc. universes. So my question is:
Would the comic/toon canons of...say...G1 be considered alternate universes? Or just you choice of canon for that universe? (this question would include games, comics, toons, books, etc...)

Well if you look at universe you'll see that all events played out in parallel universes.
So, pretty much both are canon.

The G1 comic and the G1 cartoon are two different worlds. They were just too different from each other. I also say that the old G1 toys were yet another universe. Read the back of those toys at thier bios ,very different characters. Buzzsaw was in the toy an interrogator.

To answer your question, one would have to figure out witch universe is the so called 1st universe......then you can sort out witch one's are the alternate universes. And figuring out witch one is the first [or root] universe is harder then finding pic's of Brittny Spears with her panties on

I think the toys and comic are a lot closer though. Some of those bios were written by the comic writers I think. Its the same with GI Joe. Larry Hama wrote most of the bio and almost the entire run of the Marvel comic.
