I'd disagree Hot Rod. Its about the Transformer Movie Bumblebee, directly inspired by Bay. His influece of the characters, the look and feel of them is indeed connected to the "Disappointment in the Bumblebee Masterpiece Movie toy".
1st there is not MAsterpiece Bumblebee Toy
2nd This is about feeling about the toy not the movie. Just because it is a toy based on the movie does not mean we talk about the movie, we talk about the toy. And I do see your point as long as we keep it about the toy and not the rest of the movie ok?
1 - Yes this is NOT a Masterpiece Toy. Your right there, very very right.
2 - In order to properly discuss the toy don't you have talk about what it is based on? The movie gave rise to the toy. No movie no toy. Sadly, in my humble opinion, you can't seperate the two.
1. No, don't be synical, it is from the Ultimate line.
2. Yes you can seperate the two, in fact there is a completely seperate forum where movie items are being discussed and you are more than welcom to join one of the numerous topics discussing the look of the character.
3. This thread was a good basis for discussing the figure not the character, so please start discussing things like features, complexitiy, price, packaging, possible transformations, etc.
I want this thread back on track and that's the last warning.
Movie toys=Movie
No movie no toy. Bay influenced the designs in the movie, and that gave the design to the toy. Saying the two are seperate is like saying ice and nothing to do with water.
Realistily there are 3 paths left to take.

I would think the fourth and most mature option would be to just talk about the toy and leave bay out of it. He's not the one that designed the toy. Aaron Archer and co. did.
Other then the face on it, I am warming up to it. It looks like it will have some good articulation, and an interesting gimmic.

As far as I can see this seems to be an interesting figure.
It looks like it will be the size of Unicron and friends with the complexity of a Masterpiece. (NOT saying this is a Masterpiesce just making a comparision).
To me a Bumblebee figure that size is long over due even if it is the movie one.
Now as for price there are a few collectors out there that paid well over $100 to get a Primus in the Gen 1 box from Japan so the $90 dollar tag for this figure, considering it will have animatronics seems reasonable. Now before those in the US go on about the price it will probably end up being almost double that in the UK as it will come out at about 70-80 pounds.
Now as for weather I will definately get this we have not seen some really good pictures and seen exactly what this figure has to offer the only thing to go by is the description and the few pictures from the Toy Fair, so untill there is more details and pictures on this figure I don't think anybody can really say they hate it.

Ya it will be interesting to see BB chill with Primus and Unicron. I also paid out the nose for Primus in the Japanese box, but I'm also a sucker for nice box art.

I agree 100%. Hasbro designed the transformation for the toy and they chose the gimmicks (Dreamworks has nothing to do with it). This is Hasbro's toyline remember.
Now regarding this toy. One of the issues that I have is the marketing of the word "Ultimate", such as "Ultimate Bumbleebee". To me, Ultimate means zenith, apex, the top, the best. Ultimate Bumblebee doesn't seem to inspire that when I look at it. Perhaps it's not Hasbro's fault entirely. So many products nowadays are labeled with such non-descript words like this in order to compete with other brand names and confuse the consumer.
I just wish Hasbro would use better words when they market their toys.

I belive it was either Don Murphy or Hasbro that mentioned the movie was going to be based on the G1 realm. This was said a while ago so I can't remember which official originally made that statement. Perhaps someone else can correct me if I am wrong.
Compared to the other Bumblee Bees, he is certainly the ultimate. What rattles my cage however is the hefty price tag. The transformation seems to be sacrificed for the music, electronic, and moving gimmicks. I have not heard any mention of die-cast parts. And from studying the close up pictures it looks like his frame and body are indeed made of plastic. The robot is definitely detailed but the figure seems like too much money for what it's worth.
