Fans Toys FT-04 Scoria (not-Slag)
Re: Fans Toys FT-04 Scoria (not-Slag)
I'm not in like with this fig enough to drop the 2 hun plus for it. It's alright but i'm just not stoked on that alt mode.
I think i'll pass and see what comes down the line with the other companies working on the team.

I gotta say I agree. The dino mode looks really bad to me. It's not even that the body is too long and looks like a potato (which it does)but if they just made the back dino legs bigger it'll make it look better and more accurate to the toy, cartoon and Triceratops in general.

I love that the photo tag to Peaugh's review is just a big ole baked potato. It killed me.

How many people would want Grimlock's Moon Boots (TM) released as its own set?
I really don't have interest in Scoria, but after some thought, would be willing to give the Moon Boots a try. At the very least, it's an opportunity to move Grimlock's shoehorned-into-Classics butt back onto my MP shelf.

I've already pre-ordered Scoria and will be getting the boots from FT. I don't have much interest in getting additional boots for my 2nd Grimlock.megatronus wrote:How many people would want Grimlock's Moon Boots (TM) released as its own set?

Impressive it looks so good. Wish it was priced at $100 to $130 so I could justify buying it.

If official import MPs of this size are priced at $160-$200, how can you possibly expect 3rd Party import MPs to cost $100-$130?

FT sold MP Quakewave for $130. MMC sold MP Hexatron for $130.

I paid $130 for Quakewave from a USA import site. I pre-ordered early so I got a early pre-order discount.
Hexatron is a MP TF Toy.

Nice! Glad you got Quakewave for a reasonable price.
Still OT, and this has been covered before, but Hexatron is not an MP figure. Even if I gave you the size issue, which I don't (I believe Hexatron should be AT LEAST a head taller than Prime), he is not G1-styled enough to qualify for MP status. If you decide to display Hextaron with your MPs, that's cool, but he doesn't pass that critical slavish-to-G1 bar.

Though the Moon Boots are kind of odd, I still would buy them if they were offered separately...

The HasTak MP TF Seekers did not use the same G-1 Jet mode. Yet they were called Masterpiece.
It is not unreasonable for some buyers to call Hexatron a MP TF styled toy. As it has MP Level Articulation, High sculpt, Engineering and big scale.
Hexatron is in desperate need of moon boots, to make him a head taller. Perhaps Hexatron's moon boots can transform into a shield.

Think theres definte demand to just sell the moon boots for maybe $15 to $20. I'd buy them for this price.
Guessing some Scoria buyers will sell the moon boots on ebay. to help them off set the high cost of Scoria.

Are you smoking something bad? The original G1 seekers were F-15 Eagles, both in the cartoon and as G1 toys. The MP Seekers were also F-15 Eagles. (This is borderline trollish behavior again, Tsutsukakushi. I'll admit that I had to re-write this several times to make it sound more civil and not feed into it...)
Back on topic, the moon boots are kinda cool, especially in how they attach to the back of dino mode. I'd almost like to get them and a MP Grimlock to repaint purple and black, and add an orange horn on the snout. Scoria looks fantastic! I wish I had the disposable income to collect MPs and 3P MPs in particular.

Because we're supposed to know you're refering to the MPM series with just "HasTak MP TF seekers"?

Anyways...in HasTak's defense, the movie mp series provides near-screen accurate representation with mp-level paintjobs. Until there's a MP that looks nothing like their on-screen counterparts and went all neo, Hexatron remains a very cool detailed 3p toy. Because if we go by just "MP Level Articulation, High sculpt, Engineering and big scale", then we might as well call the BTs as SuperMPs since they come with super realistic car modes.
It's cool if you consider the 3P as MPs, but saying stuff like "MP Quakewave, MP Hexatron" as if they're facts and then comparing their prices with official products? That's really stretching it, bro.
The line had to be drawn somewhere, just saying.

In hand and bad ass! Heavy, nice ratcheting everything, plenty-o-diecast....Still not sure why they decided to make him bigger than Grimlock but whatever, great toy. Only issue i noticed is a tolerance problem with the tail flap. Doesn't snap in well, but very minor.
Grimlock in boots looks ok.
8.5 out of 10, looses a point for scale choice.
Side note, I got two open mouth silver heads. I assume I should have got one closed and one open in silver like the red replacements. Anyone else have this? Anyone get two closed mouth silver faces and want to trade? haha

If you got it from any of the bigger retailers (BBTS, TFsource, even Captured Pray), I'm sure they'd be able to swap a head for you.

If you don't want the grimlock moonboots, I'll buy them for $20. Figure this will make your $199 purchase drop down to $179.
Sure, I'll be seeing these moonboots on ebay in a week or so in over abundance.
