Fundraising idea for Bill's family

Postby TM JAF » Fri Mar 16, 2007 10:09 pm

What do you think about also putting together a kitbashing fund drive for Bill's family? I'm also suggesting this on Seibertron.com. We could promote this event and have some of the kitbashing community doinate their customs (that would be appropriate I think since so many were inspired by TFM). Logistics would need to be worked out but I envision an auction based (not necessarily ebay) fund drive where these donated customs are featured and sold with the proceeds going to the paypal account set up already. This might be a good way to pay for the funareal at least.

I have very limited internet access this week and next due to my current job site but I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'll check back as soon as I can.

All the best,

JAF

I already donated directly to Bill's wife but I certainly don't see a downside to that.

A lottery is a good idea. Any ideas about how to collect fees and pick the winner?

IF we did auctions, I think they should all be run by the donators but using consistent titles including the words "TF master memorial" or something. Then more people could pitch in their work and we could try to coordinate these auctions to fall over a two week period. All of the entries could be featured on fansite homepages with links directly to the auctions. Finally, the sellers could send the money tot he paypal account setup for Lauren directly.

These are just some more thoughts.

I was thinking, if we could get some of his unfinished pieces, some of the better kitbashers among us could finish them for him, then auction those off.

OK, I've gotten a bit of feedback from Seibertron.com and a lottery seems like a great possibility. Say if it was $10 to enter for a chance to win a custom, most fans wouldn't be able to resist. I can forsee hundreds of dollars being generated for Bill's family with this. Are there any members here willing to donate a custom for the cause?

I'd be willing to donate my MP Megatron "88 flak" for this cause if enough people get on board.

I don't know what I really have to donate, maybe the snakeeyes I'm working on. I really only have a couple good impressive TF customs, and the rest aren't going to bring in much.

I would buy some tickets to yours though.
till all are one.

Great. Thanks Limabean. We still need to iron out logistics of how to select winners randomly and how to collect the entry fees.

Anyone have thoughts on those details?

Excellent! Thanks Limabean. If anyone has artwork or Kitbashes they'd like to donate for this, please either post pics of the work here or PM me to discuss. Every little bit helps, and the more art people have a chance to win, the more likely they should be to enter the raffle.

So far I haven't heard of any kitbash donations, do people think this is a good idea? What about Bill's unfinished work? Someone mentioned finishing some of those and including them.

The trick here is getting a cohesive list of donations together before publicizing the fundraiser. That way we can really get people amped when they hear that Don's in on it and therer are a bunch of other great pieces as well.

Ryan, should we continue to use the exisitng paypal account set up for Bill to accept entry fees?

Finally, we should have all contestants add a certain code or phrase to their paypal payment so we know exactly who's in for the raffle.

Thanks Piranacon. There's no deadline for this since it's really dependent on who want's to donate and when they can have something ready. I'd hope for things to be rolling within 2 weeks but understand that this may not be reasonable.

If we had about 7-10 cool prizes to give away, I think people would be very interested. The event would just have to be promoted properly across all forums as well as Seibertron.com and tfmaster.com's homepages. That could be done once we have a page up that explains the raffle and shows the prizes.

Thanks again Piranacon.
