Well, it was never outright said that merging a Transformer's spark with the Allspark would either kill said Transformer or destroy the Allspark.

Prime: "If all else fails, I will unite it with the spark in my chest."

Ratchet: "That's suicide. The Cube is raw power. It could destroy you both."

Notice how Ratchet said it could destroy them both, meaning it wasn't necessarily written in stone that it would absolutely kill Prime and destroy the Allspark.

I mean, it's not like they've tried it before.

But I think Prime was counting on it being fatal for both himself and the Cube. And I think Prime's concern (when he tells Sam to put the Cube in his chest) was due to the fact that Sam was in between Prime and Megs, in which case Megs could just crush Sam and take the Cube. Then it'd be all over.

But even if Prime had sacrificed himself, Megs wouldn't have lasted long. You've got a good number of Army and Air Force in the city, most armed with Sabot rounds. Blackout, Bonecrusher, Brawl, Frenzy, and (presumably) Barricade are toast, Starscream ran off, and Scorponok is probably just hiding in the desert, leaving only Megatron to fight agains the military, along with Bumblebee, Ironhide, and Ratchet. Those odds don't sound too terribly bad, just daunting.

Anyway, there's my two cents.

optimus did not want megs to get the allspark beasue there is a small chance it could give him incredible power. better sacrifice your self and know that megs won't get the all spark, you never know. it could have given you power.

IMO prime ain't to glad to commit fraticide hence he let sam do it

I would think merging with the all spark would give you unlimited power, making you all glowy ... Dragon Ball Super Saiyan style

nobody read my post or what...besides the off key humor it is a relevant question...why didnt the other bots just finish megs...why did the cube need to be destroyed at that stage of the movie....poof

Can add this to the growing list of things that don't make sense (Like why was bumble bee shining that light in the sky, was that how he called the other autobots) Seems like the perfect opportunity for Ironhide to use those guns he's been itching to use

there is a small chance that it could make you really powerfull, but why risk it?

It would have made more sense for Prime to say "Sam, get behind me," and then trounce Megatron. Megatron was pretty banged up after being bombarded by the F-22s, and as others have pointed out, Ratchet, Bumblebee, Ironhide, and Prime could have all ganged up on Megatron and ripped him apart. For Prime to just give up and say, "Sam, put the cube in my chest," makes him look like a pansy in that scene.

On the highway he was very aggressive, he very quickly dispatched Bonecrusher, that should have carried through even more so to the Megatron fight, seeing as there was a greater possibility for casualty. At that point in the fight, he should had used his energy blade or put his gun to megatron's head. They just wanted to the boy to be the hero

Good point. After he finsihed off bonecrusher I instantly started thinking how hardcore this prime is, no screwing around, and super aggressive.

But that indeed that dont make it to the final fight!

Ya I noticed that too.Im thinking Megs would not to mess with a bunch of High schoolers though.

I personally was wondering why Optimus was so gun-ho about destroying the Allspark. I mean, almost all of the Decepticons on Earth were destroyed before the Allspark was destroyed. I would have gathered my troops, the US forces that were there and just ganged up on Megatron. Fair? No. But at least I could then save my homeworld instead of dooming my entire race to eventual extinction.

But that's just me.

The TF robots in Bayformers Movie are called Autonomous Robots. Autonomous, but Brainless.
