I was really disapointed in this spotlight. Seemed detached from the what is happening in the main story and was a huge fall in standards to the other spotlight's.
I am not sure if Ramjet is dead yet though - first off it is a mini constructicon that had what was left of Ramjet at the end. And second, if IDW were going to play around with time manipulation or travel - remember Ramjet did say he had many plans and they were non - liner so who knows.
I guess the Transformer locator or whatever it is called will come into play at some stage - kind of like Harry Potters magic map of Hogwarts (Oh god - how cringeworthly true that is) - maybe Megatron should have used it when Sixshot told him he had killed the Autobots?
My biggest complaint about this issue was the last page - wow, how awful was that - let's quote Megatron on this one - "My fellow Decepticons, gather around for a group photo of me with my trophy so I can send it to my cousins back home - simle now" - Urrrghhh - let's move on from this Spotlight and look forward to the next one!

I took the "flashback pages" as meaning they were happening in time, but elsewhere. Guess that was wrong.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

Probably for the same reason I did. They had Local Time and GMT time on them.

Didn't Josh colour the Optimus Prime spotlight? I wonder why he didn't colour the Ramjet spotlight flashbacks in the same manner as he did in the Optimus Prime spotlight.

Nah I knew that it was effectively the same time, but one was the local time (in Africa, the USA etc) and the other was representing how many hours he had left.
It was more that everything kind of fit in place, the Brasnya conflict was only very short.

I'd be surprised if anything Ramjet built worked properly...
Fun read, I thought. Couldn't quite believe it was from the same author as the NA/TF crossover. In tone it reminded a lot of the ol' UK black-and-white strips.

Ah but what about something his Mini Constructicons built? (then again, he would've had to make the Mini-Constructicons, wouldn't he?)

here is my take on this....its seems like the only real reason for this story was to drop in the tracker...it will make sense later down the line when megs uses it to either find the combiners or for tracking galvatron and the ark 1 crew....all this book was is kibble....nice story and i like the way he died....but in the end it was ass.....poof

I finally got this Spotlight today. I liked it, but I have to agree it felt disjointed compared to the rest of the story line. I also got the feeling while reading this that it was a homage to the G1 series. I mean that Ramjet came off as more like G1 Starscream, since in the IDW series SS seems to be a lot smarter rather then walking around telling MEgatron how he is going to overthrow him one day and then randomly trying to shoot in the back. This time Starscream seems to really planning things out. Ramjet on the other had, although he had this large, overly complicated plan, seemed to be acting alot like G1 SS.
Though I was kinda disappointed to see RJ get it in the end, I always liked him over the other coneheads. Oh well, maybe we will see him in the future. Also, I thought it was kinda weird how Megs dropped off pieces of Ramjet's body to the places he visited. Wonder if that will come up later.

There was a very G1 cartoon feel about it. I would have preferred it if Ramjet had been the great architect he purported to be rather than just turning out to be as inept as G1 Starscream.
Was this issue's script deliberately self-contained in such a way so that it could be ignored if it was bad?
I can't imagine IDW won't pick up the thread involving his limbs all over the place. It would obviously have an effect on the humans and seems like a difficult thing to ignore.

Although I did kinda enjoy this Spotlight, I do have trouble with this interpretation Ramjet. From the outset, I just couldn't see him as a usurper. I always thought he was too crazy and stupid for that. Thrust, Dirge... Hell even Thundercracker before Ramjet.
Still, an enjoyable read, and as others have pointed out, at least he did seem a bit short sighted and dumb.

Now you mention it, a Thundercracker Spotlight issue really would be a good read.

So, I always get the comics late and I just read Ramjet yesterday and I am pretty let down. I thought it was a great character idea, although I don't understand why you'd make Ramjet an evil genius of sorts, I thought the action was pretty good, it was really nice to see Megatron kick some treacherous butt that WASN'T Starscreams', but the story went no where, the Mini-constructicons were beyond irritating, and overall, while the art was fantastic, this one ranks right around Kup on the pointless meter.
Please don't misunderstand me here, I was amused and in truth I really liked the issue. Ramjet was an excellent choice for a Spotlight, but maybe after awesome issues like Galvatron and Prime, this was kind of a letdown.

But that is the thing with this IDW Furmanverse (even though both were not written by Furman). Just becasue something seems irrelevant at the time, does not mean that it will have some greater impact later on.
I expect to see Kup, Springer and Trailbreaker at some point in the near future, with perhaps even the crystals of the planet Kup was stranded on having some use down the line.
Expect the Cybertronian Tracker that was introduced in Spotlight Ramjet to also pop up again...

Springer will definatly pop up again, no doubt when things on Earth get waaaay out of hand. And I mean complete stage 6 armagedeon like that planet they were on in Stormbringer. As for Kup, we know he has been repaired physically, it's just his mental wounds that need to heal. And you can get some great stories out of that, so I suspect he will appear again.
