today rocked the cazbar

Postby rob_charb » Sat Sep 22, 2007 7:33 am

My wife took my mum out to get their hair washed today and my dad and I tagged along as we were all going to go out for lunch afterwards. Where the hair salon was, there is a little hole in the wall hobby shop that has been stocking TFs as of late. Even though the last couple times I've been in there, he hasn't had anything, I thought I'd pop in today just to kill some time while we were waiting.

Head straight for the TF section and what do I see? Some new movie boxes sitting on the shelf. Getting excited, I go in for a closer look. Sitting there in all his glory is Voyager Starscream...sweet! Needed that one! Was just about to pick it up when I noticed those rarest of rare figures; Deluxes!! Woot! What's he got, I wonder? Sitting proudly at the front of all the deluxes is the one I've been looking in every single store for the last two and half months...08 BB!!! Hell yeah!!! And it's the Takara version!!!!! Snatched! And what's this behind it? Bonecrusher!! Oh hell yeah! All three of the ones I need to finish the official line-up!! Alas, I only have money for one, so of course I go with BB. Then my dad says to me "Get the other one too, I'll buy it for you." So I ended up hiding Starscream in behind a bunch of old Armada crap and snagging 08 BB and Bonecrusher.

Then, on the way to pay, my heart skipped a beat. He had Encore Prime! For the price of BB and Bonecrusher, I could finally get a pristine G1 Prime!! But, as I desperately want to finish off the movie line before getting into anything else and as I've been searching so hard to get BB, I went with BB and Bonecrusher. Plus, he's had Encore in before, so I'm not too worried about that.

Man, am I ever glad I went with my wife to the hair salon today!!

That's pretty sweet, gotta say. I really wish the stores around here stocked cool stuff like the encores.

What an awesome story! Congratulations! I hope you get the funds to get that Starscream you were looking at. I love mine! (No matter what other people say! )

All congrats and joking aside, I wish I had a hobby store where I live. I wish I had a store that would get some TF stock in where I live.

All we need now is a cell phone ad mixed into this.

Hobby stores that carry TFs, must be nice.

It is nice having a little hobbby shop nearby that carries TFs. He has quite a selection of older stuff too. Even...gasp....Binaltechs!

I'm pretty sure that the one cell phone commercial established that it is, in fact, "Lock the Cat Box".

This story would have ended way better had you gone home with BB and Encore Prime.

I should point out that as the Deluxes were the Takara versions, they were a little more pricey (by our standards here in Taiwan). But still were around 30 Canadian together. The Encore Prime was about 33 Canadian. Yes, that's right. 33 Canadian!!

33.00 CAD = 32.9703 USD according to http://www.xe.com

US Dollar is pretty weak anymore.
