The red paint stays because it is red dyed plastic not paint. Fortunately none of the battle damage is on the painted parts. Though if you want to use some alcohol or something to get in the tight cracks that is your choice. Just takes time and a bit of elbow grease though. Oh and the stomach grill is a pain. I ended up using a chopstick and my handy cloth to get in between the vents.
