It really is. And sadly, it's more obvious here than anywhere else that a lot was trimmed out.

Barricade IS INDEED in the final battle scene, you just see him only for less than two seconds.

As Ironhide is running and shooting at Blackout, you see him tackle a cop car in mid-air, and you barely see that car transforming. As ironhide lands on top of him, you see one of his wheels fly off and roll away.

I guess they thought that would be enough to imply that Ironhide killed him? Kinda silly, because you don't even see him unless you're looking for him.

To be honest, I didn't even catch this until I went over the final scene with a comb.

I've seen the movie three times and don't recall seeing Barricade in this scene...it's probably just a regular cop car, as the description doesn't match the official novel.

I don't think they cut his death scene for the rating. They showed prime decapitate Bonecrusher and Megatron dismember Jazz. Barricade in the novel just jumps on Prime's back and gets crushed againsts a column.

What I am thinking is maybe they realized that Barricade is a fresh, cool new character and saved him from his fate to use him more for the next movie.

Plus he is a Ford Mustang and , as we all know, the rival of a Chevy Camaro. It set up a good rivalry for Bumblebee.

Plus Mustangs rule too much to be killed off. :P

I'll say it again. His destruction is shown in both the novel and comic, so it's a fair bet that his destruction was also going to be in the movie, but suffered the indignity of being among the scenes trimmed from the final reel that ended up making the last twenty minutes disjointed. (It'll most likely be among the deleted scenes.)

If it didn't happen in the movie, it din't happen.
My theory is he "ran" and scanned another cop car and laid low, kinda like his recon repaint in the toy.

I agree with this, how many movies have things happened in print that were changed in the movie then when sequals came about characters that died in the novel popped up again in the movie.

Case in point
Jurassic Park, if you read the novel then you know that there is no possible way the characters of the second movie could appear in the novel (if you read it then you know exactly whom I am referring to).
I never read the TF novel or the comics either.
Not a sheeple.

Thing is, though, there are cases where there was a scene that wasn't in the theatrical release that made its way into the subsequent DVD/Video release. Case in point, Star Trek: The Motion Picture and Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. Both of these films had scenes that were either cut or intact in the theatrical release that were subsequently either removed or reinserted when they were released on DVD.

So I guess when the movie comes to DVD if they release the cut scenes then we will finally know the answer.

Even then, the theatrical release will be the "canon" so they could still bring him back even if the deleted scenes show otherwise.

Yeah, but at least then we'll know that it was supposed to be in the movie at one point.

"The killer robot is really distracting!" should've been kept in, but it was cut.

Starscream jumping into the air, transforming, and then knocking Ratchet over...cut.

I'm hoping Bay will do a Director's Cut DVD. I doubt it though, I've never seen him do one, that I know of. =\

You're sh*ttin' me...right? If that's really true (and I'm not calling you a liar) then it really pisses me off even more about Bay's "shaky cam" tactics. >=(

I saw it too. One of the best transformations in the movie IMO.

I swear I didn't see it. *SIGHS* I'm fine with going to see it again, I want to, I hear it works ever better under repeat viewings, but my point is that I shouldn't have to...you know?
