Takara Transformers designer Hisahi Yuki continues to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Car Robots animated series, by unearthing some more behind the scenes and rare toys from the line. First up is another Fire Convoy sketch, to accompany the one from last time; in addition, take a look at a translucent variant of X-Brawn, too!

I wouldn't call that X-Brawn a variant per se. Rather, it proves the point that the whole car shell is clear plastic, including the front and the hood. The retail version had it painted over all over.

The thing is regular X-Brawn/Wildride didn't have a gold chrome engine, it was silver(-ish). I think this was a test concept on how the figure would look with a visible engine through the hood. This probably gave way to the "super" figure having a gold engine and the exclusive clear variant that Takara sold at events.
