I had an idea most of these designes looked more like beast wars to me witch i thought was awsome becuase beast wars was what got me hooked on transfomrers. Ok well here is my idea many people have said starscreams movie desgines reminded them of waspinator. Ok rember the episode where starscreams spirit possesed waspinator mabey thats how they got there idea? What do you think please no NEGATIVE coments.

could be..... waspy and starscream are the same being and this is like a evolution of the two

yeah, this theory has been floating around since the first prototype pic surfaced. i didn't buy it then, and i certainly don't buy it now. if it were just him, i'd say it might be plausible (though i'd still think the new look sucked, and not just because that episode was a hideous black mark on an otherwise superb series), but it's not. bug-like heads are a running trend among all the movie 'con designs we've seen. as far as i can tell, this is a textbook case of making evil aliens look insectoid so they'll be "scarier," nothing more.

besides, are you actually suggesting these people did research into past tf designs before making these things? it doesn't even seem like they bothered watching g1, let alone beast wars.

Because their aliens. And there's no rule ANYWHERE that aliens must look strictly humanoid.

That doesn't mean that the most of the Cons have to look like piles of recycled slag, though.

there's also no rule ANYWHERE that aliens must look strictly insectoid, even if hollywood and michael bay seem to think there is. the problems that a lot of the fans have with these designs have nothing to do with not looking humanoid, at least not directly. it's all about looking like who it's supposed to be. if you want to make a movie with characters based on and named after pre-established characters, you should make them look at least somewhat reminiscent of their namesakes, not force people to try to justify the new appearance by coming up with convoluted theories like "oh, his ghost possessed a guy who looked sort of like this in an episode, maybe that's what they were going for." if they cared enough to intentionally include obscure references like that into the design, they would also have cared enough to do so only after they made sure it was recognizable as starscream.

I don't think he looks like Beast wars Waspinator, I think he more reseamble beast wars rattrap's head.. see below:

nice try defending the movie makers decisions;
however all the robots except for scorpinok ARE strictly humanoid

Although, I agree with you on what Glyph did. I still believe that you yourself were condescending in your first post towards those of us who have good reasons to dislike the Cons movie forms.

I've been sick and tired of this TF Movie Forum bashing from members on both sides more times than I can now count off the top of my head.

So, please, everyone let us, at least, try to discuss our opinions and not blast each other away for an opinion that is different from your own.

Anyway, reading the writers interview not so long ago, they had part to do with the designs, but not completely. I have nothing against them, they did their best with the media or facts given to them. They were more into a making a visual stunning movie. In the end, for some reason, their same rule that applied to Soundwave (if you can't do it right, don't do it) wasn't applied to most of the cast. Prime was easy, but some just didn't get it, espeacially with Megatron or Starscream ( and just look at the early designs of Prime..clearly it was a whole new directionEarly Prime ), at least that's my opinion, but I could be mistaken.

I think Masterforce and RID Darkscream looks a lot like the movie cast, and maybe very little Beast Machines.

On topic though, I agree that the movie Starcream's head does look a lot like Waspinator. I also think it, and his entire design, blows...
