Issues with the new wave of 'good' movie figures

Postby Raymond101 » Sat Sep 08, 2007 6:03 pm

So, generally G1 redeco Jazz, Longarm, Dropkick and Leader Brawl are well-liked by the Transfan community. What are the issues that might hinder the figure's overall quality?

For example, are Jazz's arms still an issue?

Are Dropkick and Longarm playable?

Does Brawl have misassembly problems?

my biggest complaint is paint application and how its either already chipped or chips easily when transforming.

I just opened up my Dropkick today and I don't know about anyone else, but his right shoulder has the same issue for me as Deluxe Brawl: peg on the arm is too big to fit in the hole. Its not a problem like Brawl's is, because his arms aren't too heavy and the joints are pretty good on him. But it just looks... :\ Filing the peg down just a wee bit fixes the problem, though. Just kind of annoying to see yet another figure that needs minor alterations to "work the way it was intended to."

G1 Jazz deco's arms did seem tighter and well better. They are still the same bad design but tighter joints in the hood part so it can hold its "shape" better.

But yes seems there were alot of minor paint flaws on each figure so if you picky it may be hard to find the right Jazz for you.

Now just think if you were one of the people that bought your Jazz blind on ebay without looking at the paint job AND paying 3 times the price.

I agree with DeathNoble. Dropkick is cool, but BOTH of his arms are slightly messed up. Neither arm will stay exactly where its supposed to go, and when I try to push them in, the pose I have for the legs gets messed up. Its not fragile or flimsy, but nothing is as tight as it could be. I just have to pose him the best I can, and then leave him alone.

I like him, and most of the movie toys, but there's a reason why Transformers have been blocky for the 22 years before the movie, as well as the foreseeable future: blocky works. Making certain parts on TFs thin really doesn't make them strong enough to support their own weight, and really reduces their playability.
