I know it’s probably been debated about for over 6 months or so.....but here me out.
I’ve spent the last 3 months accelerating my rebirth transformer collection. All G1 inspired, Hasbro. I’ve found everything to used true G1 mini bots, Generations, PoPs, Siege etc.
So I don’t mind spending the money- as you know a SDCC Devastor or MetroPlex can get pricey.
The last two pieces of my collection I want to be the best, coolest possible version of Optimus and Megatron. Kind of a ceremony if you will.
Is the MP-44 3.0 the coolest, baddest version of Optimus out yet? I realize it’s crazy expensive- but wanted some feedback. Maybe the same goes for Masterpiece Megatron?
I have yet to get any Masterpiece- but they look really cool.
Thanks all!

It depends on what your priority is. Are you going for presentation? How it looks on the shelf? In that case, MP-44 is your best bet. I don't have the figure, but I read that transformation can be finicky. MP-10, while inferior in looks, has a better transformation and costs about half the price. There's also the old MP-01, which I own and love, but most fans hold their noses up at him because he's the older version.
As for Megatron, your choices are MP-05 and MP-36, and it's not even close, get MP-36. MP-05 is just a pile of parts.

Masterpiece is the cream of the crop as they say, but they're not without their problems. One has to be prepared to handle them delicately as some have parts that would break easily if not handled properly or have other issues, like being overly complicated. MP-5 Megatron is quite notorious in that: his clips break easily and his metal components tarnish or even rust, so avoid!
A perfect Optimus Prime is hard to pick, but outside of Masterpiece (I'd pick MP-10) Earthrise Optimus Prime is a good contender. Megatron... has weapon laws to deal with, so you're pretty stuck there (as said before, MP-36 is the one to get) unless you can live with him being a tank (or him having an orange plug).

MP-44 and MP-36 are what to go with if money isn't an issue. MP-10 is still a great, highly satisfying option for less dough. MP-44 isn't difficult to transform but it is complicated and has a learning curve. Just the number of steps that's high though, once you get through it a few times it sinks in. I think it's the nicest G1 OP there is and I'm someone that was very very skeptical of it before its release.

Awesome feedback. Thanks. Does it feel “durable” ? It’s not like my 6 year old wil play with it (I hope!) but just curious if the MP-44 feels sturdy.

While MP-10 costs less, and probably has a simplier transformation, if you're looking for a matching pair and price is a no issue, MP-44 and MP 36 are, in my opinion, the best choices.

So far so good on durability but also yes, definitely not something a kid could handle. I have to be careful with my wedding ring on all these new MPs because they have a ton of paint and if I'm not careful with my hands it can get really scratchy. Obviously this may or may not apoly in your case.cackman17 wrote:Awesome feedback. Thanks. Does it feel “durable” ? MP-36 and MP-44 are the definitive versions of those characters...yes mp-10 is way cheaper but cant sit down or crouch or raise his shoulder all the way up.
