I honestly can't wait to pick up a Switch and make it my go-to handheld, Cary! My system-seller is the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei, so whenever that comes States-side, it shall be mine.

WHERE HAVE I BEEN?!
Going all the way back to the gaming..FOR ME Breath of the Wild is the absolute closest a videogame has ever come to the amazingness that is The Legend of Zelda on the NES. Not A Link to the Past, not Ocarina of Time, POSSIBLY The Wind Waker, not Twilight Princess, not Skyward Sword, but really BREATH OF THE WILD!!! I'm guessing that is why I'm so enamored with that game still. Also, the only way I can play Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is on the Virtual Console so I can use Save States repeatedly. Or I get no where.
Peru Kill?! Holy shirt!!
Slurptimus Prime?! YES!!
Finding an unfindable figure I have yet to find?!

I was going to say either... but after thinking about it, I say the first release is best. The nitpicks are minor, but the TM Roddy has a strange color scheme, lazy TM, and that white piece under his completely clear windshield sticks out hard. Whereas the first Roddy has a beautiful blue windshield, unquestionable color scheme, and only lacks the TM buddy.carytheone wrote:For someone who owns neither, which would you recommend?

Then you should probably stay away from every MP mold released for about 5 years

Wind Waker alternates with OG and BotW as my favorite. Although Z2 has its merits, jumping, magic, xp, a giant map, all that nonsense. I hate the game though.shajaki wrote:I wasn't a huge fan. BotW is an amazing game with Zelda window dressing. I'm still suspect that BotW started life as a different game. While my opinion of BotW is very high like slot it in second place high, I'd like to have a little time pass post-mortem before I give an "official" ranking.
WW is very high on my list (also vying for second place) and I've slotted OoT back up a ways after playing the 3DS remake (maybe an obligatory place after my real favs

Link Between Worlds was aight and scratched the LttP itch, but left me wanting. It did kinda get the ball rolling for BotW with the "you have all the tools you need, go anywhere" gimmick.
Z1 was groundbreaking for the time, hell even to a degree now, but the controls are so antiquated I can't get much enjoyment out of a re-play-though and I don't even want to talk about Z2.
Someone please give props to Link's Awakening! The true follow up to LttP (at least gameplay wise). Pretty amazing what they pulled off on such limited hardware.
Never played Seasons, the touch DS games or the silly waggle fests on Wii. I'm hoping the HD remakes get ported to the Switch so I can experience them the correct way

Without busting open the Hystoria I think that covers all the Zelda games worth talking about ...

Yeah, I owe everyone an apology and a beer for that, but it is an official Zelda game.

Oh Care, now I'ma gush about Zelda.
Zelda 1 NES - I only just played it, so I don't really have much to say about it.
Zelda 2 Link NES - Odd place. Yes it's the black sheep, and hard AF, but it's one of the ones that I saw a bunch of and wanted to play. So I'ma do it. Just under better circumstances than a GBA SP
LTTP - Top of the mountain, hands down. Like I said, I don't ever see it being dethroned.
LA - Really really impressive for what it is. Lots of fun, kind of a cop-out ending though...
OOT - Seriously a staple in the franchise. The first 3D Zelda, and just generally outstanding. My spots 1 & 2 are without a doubt LTTP and WW. but spot 3 I dunno. Gun to my head, OOT. But given deep thought, it might be a seven way tie with others
OOS/OOA - I only played Seasons though to the end, and it was fun. But I felt fatigued halfway through Ages and gave up.
MM - Man. Talk about Zelda's I WANT to play. I got it first day and was turned right off by the fact that you couldn't save the game in a simple way. Igave it no chance. Years later I did give it proper go, got 3/4 through but gave up and I can't even recall why. One day, I'll get back to it.
WW - I don't think I was upset about the artistic direction, or if I was then it wasn't for long. I think hands down it has the best story of all the ones I've played. I think one of the things I liked the most was how big it felt, while at the same time not feeling daunting.
MC - At the time I was pretty meh about this one, maybe because it was the first 16 bit(ish?) top down Zelda since LTTP, and it was SO different from LTTP. It's another one I didn't give a chance. But I did, years later. And damn, what a good game. At the end, there's a TON of grinding to get that 100% completion. Kind of annoying, kind of satisfactory. It ended up being a contender for spot #3
TP - Meh. People got the realistic Zelda they wanted. It bugged me that it was mostly about Midna. Not because it was a departure, or that it just wasn't ZELDA, but it made Zelda herself seem like a third wheel. She shoulda just not been there.
Epic Ganon fight though.
PH/ST - These get a tough rap. I loved PH, but 100% completion felt impossible so I never did. PH had it's issues, but I thought it was great, controls and all (you get the hang of it). ST however, just felt... phoned in. I didn't play much of it.
SS - Man. #$%@ the controls on this game. I really want to play this, but I won't unless there's a remake for a regular controller
Probably the most disappointing (for terrible reasons) Zelda out there.
BOTW - We'll see....

That's awesome! Way to make a custom back drop display! I'd have never guessed there'd be a 7 eleven playset.
7 eleven is not a chain in my neck of the woods and I've never even been to one. Are they big in Japan?

Man! 7 11s are big everywhere. I was in Melbourne Australia. I jumped in a 7 11 on one corner to grab a soda. As I exited I noticed there was a 7 11 kitty corner from the one I just left.

So, it's been a fun couple mail days. I think I'll start with this: the Bee Vinyl! I'm still pretty pissed about missing the Prime/Megs variants, but meh, I'll get them some day.

Next up is a sealed (First Run) Takara Dinobot. Another addition to the shrine!

This is something that's actually pretty hard to find (sealed anyways). Takara's first run of BW figures were exactly the same as ours. Then shortly after the show hit their TV's, they changed some of the deco's to be more accurate. And those versions seem to be more commonly found, and the Dinobot's are pretty difficult to distinguish. The only way, is the dino eyes. The first run has yellow eyes, and the second run has pale green eyes. Now I got a sealed pair of each
Packed in with Dinobot, was this beasty VS pack:

Seibertron has been a Killy Punchy place lately, and I wanted to join in
(and thanks to bodrock, I was able
)
I've always wanted KP, but this VS set was a no brainer because I have wanted Polar Claw since I was a kid. Sure, he isn't paired up with PC, but Survive is something I'd want anyways, so two birds!

KP is easily the best version of the mold. The blade thingy, optional claw/dinohead backpack, color scheme, head sculpt... yeah. Best version. As for Survive, he is just as dumb, and lovable, as I thought he'd be. He's big and silly, and the bat thing is neat and not as flimsy as I've heard reported. I just wish his second head wasn't literally on the back of his normal head. But hey, head #2 has a real Grimlock vibe.
I'm looking forward to Polar Claw some day. His colors are pretty simple, but you can't beat snow white. I also checked out Barebearian, and he's kind of disappointing being the most expensive and rare one, and having the most simple color scheme. And actually of all three, I think Survive looks the best

So this thing arrived with the beasties the other day, but I wasn't actually going to reveal it yet as it didn't turn out how I'd wanted. But I figured what the hell. Say hello to my KO "Magten" MP-36 Megatron!

Backstory:
I saw some things floating around the interwebs that can come together and make a pretty awesome G1 Toy Megatron. There's a lot of different KO Megs's out there, and this version is silver, has red inner legs, additional "chest hair" chest panel, and G1 Toy inspired face. That alone, is pretty damn toy like. But you can take it further. Dr. Wu made an accessory kit with the sword he originally came with. And (the part I'm not happy with) is the Shapeways trigger crotch.
It's actually pretty great, but the version I chose doesn't match. I chose the "Polished Metallic Plastic" which was the second most expensive one ($13), but the most expensive one is damn near 60 bucks! Well, it's too light, and doesn't feel polished. It still has the bumpy printed feel to it. And when I was looking at the different versions, the crazy expensive one looks black anyways so it wouldn't match. Which is one of my main complaints about Shapeways, they're just renders. Why can't they MAKE the things, photograph them, and put those pics up? I digress. But anyways, you all can be the judge!

That head is so dope! This is the one that makes me itchy. Like crackhead itchy.
The shape of the 3D piece is cool and right, but I feel you on the misrepresentation thing. It's frustrating that nothing 3D printed ever looks exactly right next to injection molded plastic.
That sword is all kinds of dopenesses.
I pity the foo' who shows me stuff I want but don't wanna but right now!

VERY cool, Shaj -- can you swap the face for others? That would make it even better (I've considered getting a face-pack for MP-36 just to have G1 Face as an option!).
I absolutely dig the red on the inner-legs, the chest curlies, and G1 sword! The trigger crotch is funny, like the original's -- agreed that Shapeways should provide actual pics.
I had bought Octopunch's crab legs from there, if you recall, and they were too purple. Fine for me, as I do not want to pay $60 for a true pair, but still.
Have you transformed Magten?! I still haven't done so with MP36.... ;p

If I get the KO, I need that one. Just so I can go back and forth with the face/chest! It's the cool. Someday..let me sell some more figures first

I've been thinking of getting a can of silver spray paint...Cobotron wrote:The shape of the 3D piece is cool and right, but I feel you on the misrepresentation thing. It's frustrating that nothing 3D printed ever looks exactly right next to injection molded plastic.

Right? And how is that the fiendish Dr. Wu didn't make his giant goofy silver gun part of that set?! Sure there's one on SHAPEWAYS... but we already know my feelings on that subjectCobotron wrote:That sword is all kinds of dopenesses.

It's a switch-out face like all the others. I'm pretty sure the pack can be found in a quick eBay searchbodrock wrote:VERY cool, Shaj -- can you swap the face for others? That would make it even better (I've considered getting a face-pack for MP-36 just to have G1 Face as an option!).

Maybe give'r a paint job? I'm thinkin that going white, then painting might be the best way to tackle 3D printed stuff if you really want it.nbodrock wrote:I had bought Octopunch's crab legs from there, if you recall, and they were too purple. I have not. Don't get me wrong... the KO feels pretty good, but he has some strange tolerances that the official doesn't. Y'know, joints that squeak and such? I'll probably give it a shot eventually though.bodrock wrote:Have you transformed Magten?! I still haven't done so with MP36.... ;p
Not to cause a panic or anything, but it was actually pretty difficult to acquire this guy. He WAS on TFdirect until the very day I decided to pull the trigger, then he was gone. I scoured, and only found one site, that seemed very questionable (I think called ShowZstore?) and decided to go for it. Cause Paypal buyer protection, why not, I'm covered. But from the time of purchase, it took them 2 WEEKS to actually ship the damn thing. Dirty pool. But to my surprise, he is here, so end of the day it's not much to complain about.itscramtastic wrote:If I get the KO, I need that one. Just so I can go back and forth with the face/chest! I considered the OS MPP36 for a bit, but he didn't quite have the look -- Magten definitely does.
I like the light-up faces out there for Megz, too, Shaj!
