Really, I give Starscream props for having balls, but seriously, what the hell was he thinking?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't Starscream already been there, done that?

Been there, done that? Um... I guess so, that's basically Starscream's entire character. If he's not trying to overthrow Megs, he isn't really Starscream... I don't really get what you're trying to say, tbh.

he's saying starscream's done the sneaky overthrow thing. in the show, he would just say it flat out all the time, but in the comics he would formulate complex plans, and he executed them more effectively than any other 'con before or since. i mean, the guy harnessed the power of the underbase and merged with the decepticon warworld over the course of the marvel g1-g2 run. granted, he was eventually defeated both times, but still, what other 'con had anything close to that success rate?

but even in the cartoon, starscream was clearly smarter than megatron. note how many times he makes a suggestion and megatron ignores his advice in favor of calling him an idiot, but then in the end it turns out starscream was right (which, of course, megatron doesn't acknowledge). after a few million years of that, don't you think it's possible you'd get pissed off and start telling the boss that you'd be better at his job too? especially if you know you're too valuable to the cause for him to get rid of?

In "Transformers: The Ultimate Guide it says that Starscream has an intelligence level of 7 while Megatron has an intelligence level of 10.

of course, because a couple of numbers in a book that claims to be "canon" for a franchise with innumerable alternate time streams and contradictory continuities are obviously far more reliable for comparing two characters' intelligences than actually looking at their actions in the various storylines to see who acts smarter.

i suppose it is appropriate of you to bring it up, though, as it provides another example of how much bull the tech spec numbering system is, especially as far as the leaders are concerned (they're generally given extra-high numbers to make sure they're "better" than everyone else). and on a side note, check out skywarp's numbers. do they seem a bit high to you? and did starscream's strike you as a bit low? that's because you're looking at the same numbers from the original tech specs copied down into a book, and it's widely believed that starscream and skywarp's numbers were accidentally switched while they were doing the box layouts (many also believe that something similar happened with sideswipe and sunstreaker's character descriptions, hence the "rocket pack" anomaly). just one more reason to trust empirical evidence over what you read in some guide book.

I did see the number for Skywarp, and I thought, thats a bit odd considering he's suppost to be dumb. Besides looking at the cartoon series, is there any book about Transformers that is accurate? I saw the numbers for Starscream, and I thought, that isn't right, isn't he a tad bit smarter then that? But I thought, they're in there that way because they know more about him then I do. I know that sounds stupid in a way but I tend to assume editors and authors try to be accurate, and so I got fooled by some information that I assumed to be accurate in the first place.
