Not quite. Judging by what I can see, Prime has normal hips, as he only forms the middle and therefore has no need for the high hips.

He sort of reminds me of G1 Starsaber. The red upper torso and the white and blue "pants"

And they are getting less "alien insect like" with every release. Keep it going Tomy!

Animation wise, I wonder how they're going to shoehorn him back to the story. From truck to train?

I say Dragon Train, if you're talking about his dragon mode. Wouldn't be the first time a Japanese toy company has done it

Normally I would be mildly drooling over a Takara/Tomy release since we don't usually have anything quite so cool here in the States but in this instance I will say that I'm impressed with the train and bot modes (although the inevitable re-deco would need to be done to make him a bit more "Prime"ish color wise, not just the small red patch in front) but I could honestly care less about the dragon mode and his combined form... I find it lacking and not even worthy of Energon/Powerlinx proportions.

It's a good figure, don't get me wrong. I would not for one second pass up adding it to my Prime collection and I'll take it over any U.S. release BH Prime. I'm just not thrilled with it and think they could have stopped with just two modes for him and still had a very decent figure. The dragon mode is just too much and the combiner mode... ugh. Just my own opinion, I know many of you will love it and you are well entitled to.

The combined form names are as follows:

Kenzan on top, Prime in the middle, Gekisoumaru as the legs = "DaiKenzen".

Gekisoumaru on top, Prime in the middle, Kenzan as the legs = "DaiGekisou".

I have concern because there's a big text box over his middle much like the early shots of the three figure teams. They might be covering.

Well, that's disappointing. Robot mode looks like a mix between Galaxy Force Convoy and DOTM Sentinel Prime. Bullet train is of course bullet train. And the "dragon" mode looks reminiscent of Drago's cannon mode from Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad. I'm sure if this thing didn't have to combine with anything else, it might have actually looked half decent.

Yep. No top or leg modes for him.

Though, it looks like some of Prime's parts can be added as armor to the top guys to make a new look for them in these combinations.

chuckdawg, as others have already said, Kenzam and Gekisoumaru cannot connect to each other, so Prime NEEDS to always be the middle.

Yeah I was but he had a good point. The two other figures could never connect to each other directly because the ports are different.

Train looks decent, robot looks like it's in denial about not turning into a truck, and I'm not sure what's going on with the dragon mode. I see a dragon head, but it otherwise looks like, well, nothing.

What if they make a black version of Optimus to go with the black versions of Kenzan and Gekisoumaru, but make it be just the real Optimus in a color-changed upgrade (like how the black redecos of Kenzan and Gekisoumaru are) instead of a Nemesis?
