To me it's always been obvious. Examples are early outings from an Australian group called The Whitlams. Their first hit song was depressing. Yet a few albums later after much success the songs were more upbeat and happy.
Linkin Park is another example, their early stuff was clearly disgruntled. Now they're just grown up Beibers.

I got into David Bowie today.
I was in the car listening to his song from 1982's movie Cat People and the Breakfast Club.
It's about the only song i like from him.
Don't you, forget about me.

Seriously, I don't know if you're a new breed of spambot or just weird.
You "got into" David Bowie but you only like one song? Last I checked if you were "into" something you really liked them.

Love No Aphrodisiac. Hard to believe it was 15 years ago
On the subject of musical change. How much of that do you think is personal development, attempting a demographic crossover, direction from the music company etc? Then There are bands that have been doing the same thing for a long time with continued success.

Direction from music company - Manufactured pop aimed at the teenage female demographic (e.g. OneDirection and Bieber).
Demographic crossover - Best example would be Madonna. She's tried to change with the times to remain "fresh". What she fails to realise though is she's a wrinkly old woman trying to hold on to her glory days and not be surpassed by the likes of Lady Gaga.
Speaking of ... Gaga is a mystery. Some would say she's manufactured, I just think she's a marketing genius.
Personal development - I think there's a lot out there. Take Bon Jovi for example, their early stuff was bright, energetic, new stuff, while it's very much Bon Jovi, you can feel it's older, wiser, and a little more grown up.
Ones that have stayed the same - Best example, AC/DC. Never changed, never will. Still big.

Gaga is a marketing genius, but damned if she just didn't steal Madonna's schtick and update it. I half expect her to make a picture book of nudes and call it "Intercourse". I truly wish she'd just go away. Manufactured music is the normal anymore, which is sad. Gone are the days of true musicians who write their own stuff, perform it themselves, and have the talent and knowledge to excel at both. I don't know if you will ever see anyone win the triumvirate of music awards: a Grammy, Tony, and an Oscar. I believe there are only two or three artists who have ever done that; I know Elton John and Phil Collins did it, and I'm pretty sure Billy Joel did it as well but not 100% positive. You just don't see people with that talent anymore. Wait, let me correct that: you SEE people with that talent, they just do not fit in with what the music marketing people believe would be successful anymore. "American Idol" and those other shows make my point. Reality show, my ass. If it was a reality show, why do they need writers and how are the cameras ALWAYS exactly where they need to be? I've been to a couple AI tryouts and they turn people away that are WAY more talented than the ones they pick, but either aren't attractive enough or just don't fit into the "pop music" mold. It's truly sad. I believe that the Rolling Stones would not have ever made it in today's music world.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

You're clearly not looking in the right places. There are plenty of artists out there who write and perform their own stuff (on real instruments and don't need computer enhancements).
Hell, Australia has an entire digital radio station dedicated to unsigned artists. (Yes, some of them need their computer enhancements unfortunately)

Me and my cousin were just having a conversation about this. In the end, it boiled down to "were the hell did dubstep come from, and why is it so popular?' Its just random, fluctuating sounds. Why do people like so much?

Dance clubs. The bass in infectious.
When I go to the gym I have to turn my iPod up most times to drown out some of the rap/heavy bass dance stuff the muscle heads have playing through the system.

I have a whole album of 12 songs written in theory.
I just need to record it at guitar center.

So I skipped the jazz band practice last night. Used the excuse that I was tired.
I was called a wimp.
Whatever.
