Do the transformers have ranks ?
In the comics Sky Linx says he his a liutenant commander.
If there are ranks waht order do they go in.

Ranks are part of Tech specs...1-10.
It really depends though, how the show depicts it.
You need the transformers ultimate guide.

They have the # ranks on the tech specs as well as what is called function stating there main personal skill (ex. BB's function is espionage).

As far as saying commander and so forth, only few functions are depicted in that manner and, imo, those are only coincidental.

some do have rank-like positions, i've read somewhere that starscream was the decepticon aerospace commander, General Magmatron, Maximal Elders stuff like that

The Japanese cartoons, or at least the dubs, suggest a more military structure to the Autobot hierarchy. Before they kill off Optimus (again) in Headmasters he's constantly being addressed as 'Supreme Commander'.

The ranks on the tech specs don't really fit the characters too well. 10 being the highest 9 being the second in command ect. But with multiple characters not just 10 alot of people end up sharing the same rank.

To give a more clear picture Jetfire was said to be Optimus Prime's second in command in Armada but according to his tech specs both Optimus and Jetfire would have the same rank.

Energon Shockblast is even more off target. In one episode of Energon Megatron/Galvatron told Shockblast that everyone outranked him. (He actully listed everyone by name too) However his tech specs show he has a rank of 9, this would make him equill to Scorpinok and outrank everyone elce.

Some of the drones in Energon even share the same rank as Demolisher and Cyclonus/Snowcat yet they're only drones, their rank should be 0.

At any rate, yes ranks do exsist or Optimus and Megatron couldn't be called Leaders, Ironhide wouldn't have made a big deal about attacking a commanding officer, ect. just don't go by their tech specs to determin what their ranks are.

Combiner leaders should normally have a higher rank, since they are in charge of their squadrons and I would think they could be capable of commanding other troops.

Something I thought was cool about Goldbug's tech spec was his function was Espionage DIRECTOR. I would assume that also meant he was in charge of the Throttlebots, but may just be my way of interpreting things.

Sometimes the G1 tech spec rank ratings seemed a little off.

Compare Warrior Skywarp's rank 9 to Aerospace Commander Starscream's rank of 7 if I remember correctly.

That said, there is long time speculation among fans that these guys tech specs were mixed up.

Red Alert had the function Security Director but his rank was only 7.

Skids meanwhile had a rank of 8, same as Prime's right hand man Jazz and I think Wheeljack,
