Money. I think the budget, even for Hollywood blockbuster, won't let us have Primus and Unicron in their full glory.

Even though power levels have been toned down in the movie as opposed to the monstrous power levels like Cybertron, for the sake of money, it's still possible the 'creator' of the Allspark can be on the big screen, although it'll have to be a Cybertronian vehicle of some sort or some big Earthen vehicle. It is unlikely to be a planetformer.

I think also the movies are aimed at a more general audience. The average moviegoer's eyes will probably glaze over at some of the more out-there concepts in Transformers lore. Planetformers made "realistic" would have fingers the size of small continents! Not to mention all the continuity they'd have to explain to introduce the comic and/or cartoon origins.

They'll probably keep the story relativley simple. Autobots versus Decepticons, a smattering of the politics that led to the war, and possibly some cross team personalities. (IMO anyway.)

The allspark wasnt a cybertronian creation, so its creator would not be cybertronian.

What about this one, keeping in tradition of reinventing characters:

Unicron is a planet. Earth. That's right, we f'ing live on the guy. The whole planet starts to shake, natural disasters everywhere (it is Bay), as he begins his transformation, and the objective is to stop it before it gets worse.

And don't say, "An organic Unicron sucks", because he wouldn't be. The core of the earth is iron and nickel. That's him. The rest is just rock from the solar system that formed around him as the planets coilesed.

So no, you'd never actually see him in robot mode, which is disappointing, but it's cool, and keeps the action "grounded" and not to spacy.

Of course, it's probably too much.

That actually sounds really cool! I can imagine his horns jutting out of the earth and partial recognizable bits coming through.

If they do a Unicron though, the fans will demand to see him full-body in robot mode

But, think of the awesome toy it would make!

Unicron's possible, but not until the end of the film series.

It could be that little monkey guy called Primacon (I think).

Hmm, I'm sure I've read an idea like that somewhere. :-? :P

What about if they do it like Galactus? You see hints of their robot modes, but never actually the full thing. It would cut down costs. And you don't need to create the toon/comic backstory, make a new one up. This is a new continuity.

I doubt that anything as far out as a planet turning into a robot will be in this continuity. The general public would likely find that too big a leap in logic. It's bad enough trying to get non fans to buy into the fact that robots turn into vehicles for no particular reason.

As cool as Unicron is, I don't think they need to focus on him in this continuity. The real focus should be on creating believable characters. The movie makers should focus on reinforcing the fact that the Transformers are involved in a war that has lasted a very long time. A robot as big as Unicron will draw attention away from that story line, and I think that the script writers have alot of work to do to improve on the original.
