Movie starscream new hands

Postby Sonray » Thu Oct 18, 2007 10:17 am

I was wondering if anybody had some suggestions as to what is best to use for giving movie starscream some accurate hands?

The doc ock claws dont look accurate enough to me as i want movie accuracy, so does anyone have any cheap alternative and easily availiable substitutes?

Also, what would people rather see? A G1 repainted movie SS, or just a movie accurate repaint to replace the sun-tanned yellow of the original toy?

I posted about this somewhere a few weeks ago. A lot of people said it looked lame, but I like it: I use Defensor's hands. Insert them into one of the missle holes (applying light pressure). I do it so that the two remaining barrels are laying on the upper part of the forearm, looking like he could still use them. It doesn't look spectacular or very accurate, actually makes him look even more like a monkey, but it works for me. I imagine that if you used Inferno's or Grapple's hands, you might get a similar effect, but the gestalt size seems more to scale. And I'm sure you could play around with different gestalt sets to see what you like best.

Uni's head: None of your suggestions are easy or cheap to come by though. I was thinking more along the lines of a non-tf toy that i could easily buy and use as spare parts for screamers hands. I cant afford to buy more tf's just to use them for spares, plus thats sacrilege anyway. :P

I dont know alot about non-tf toys but i know alot of people around here do so i was hoping someone could give me a suggestion as to what non-tf toys out there have what im looking for at a low price as im a little broke at the moment. Maybe i could find some gundams on ebay that might work, but i dont know what the scale of movie starscream is.

here's my secret....

I think these fit his style the best, and for under $10, a great option. I shortened the cannons a bit, and placed magnets to hold these babys on. Painted them flat black and drybrushed some metallic black, then metallic blueish/silver to match the rest of the body.

My Defensor isn't on display so they were available and handy and best of all, fit. I didn't realize you didn't already have one :)
as for "sacrilege" though, ah, I like to keep it in the family.

Motto: "Know your enemy, then crush them."
Weapon: Gatling Cannon
I used Doc Ock claws on mine, but the claws needed to be cut and moved around because the Ock claws only have 3 fingers.

I also replaced the massive arms with some spare ones from the parts bin. I never finished his paint job, so I don't have pics.

If i can figure out how to make my own hands id be able to make the whole toy look exactly like that. However i lack the funds to buy the toys which have the parts that i need to make the arms look that accurate for now so a re-spray will have to do until i have a spare £20 laying around. (which isnt often.)
