Prime's lips - there's still a chance we can get rid of them
the uh...primal/prime thing wasn't directed at anyone specifically, it was more if a genreal comment. Didn't know it had been rehashed, some people do consider Primal as Prime and don't split hairs.

Also, Primal was originally intended to be Prime by Hasbro prior to the creation of the animated series. It was the creators of the animated series who added the lips; the original action figures of Primal (the bat and gorilla designed prior to the animated series) both had mouthplates because that was one of Optimus Prime/Convoy's primary distinguising traits.

Destroy the lips!
If it doesnt happen I'll make a Optimus Prime head with lips (I'll use the voice helmet) and then I'll smash his lips with a baseballbat. Then I'll laugh like a madman.

I am 100% serious about what I'm about to say. Really, I am.
It doesn't matter how good the robots look, how great the action scenes will be or anything else, if Prime has lips, it will ruin the entire movie for me.
It's already completely killed my excitement for the film.
Simple as that.
EDIT: I mean, why not go back and put lips on Darth Vader so he can emote better? Sometimes a face that is static can project more emotion that an actual face ever could. Think of Vader watching Luke getting shocked by the Emperor in ROTJ, Vader has the same mask he always had, but the viewer reads into it and the emotion is much stronger than if Vader had a big frowny face and a tear going down his cheek.

In MY childhood, Primal had lips.
It doesn't count as Prime, I just thought I'd throw that in.

In my childhood we didnt care about such things as lips because we were too busy transforming them.

First, it is now proof that he does not respect the source material...WELL DONE!!!!
Second, what gives him the right to decide 'Oh, I don't want that faceplate thing that is the iconic look of this character'
Bay ain't an artist and is no Spielberg.
How about he just concenrs on making the film and make NO CREATIVE decisions.
Keep the damn faceplate on.....
No one is considering losing his faceplate all together. The only question is, will we ever see his mouth?

What I'm wondering is, will he have the mouth shown most of the time, or the faceplate?

Optimus prime having lips is like making a sandwhich with peanut butter and mayo...not right. if prime Does have lips and they are visible through most of the movie , it wont ruin it for me it will just make Bay seem like less of a person

Then I have to question whether you had any excitement to see this movie in the first place if, of all the possible things you could have come up with, Prime having lips is what's going to make you not see it.
This reminds me of when people were complaining about Spider-Man having organic webshooters before the movie came out. Except this is even more inconsequential to the plot.

I generally complain about the plot, acting, and directing when I don't like a movie (AFTER I'VE SEEN IT), but to each their own I guess.

Exactly , as you said "After you've seen the movie" . Everyone has written this movie off already and only a select few have seen more than just a few trailers.

I'd heard people say Spider-Man 3 wasn't very good, and I'd had questions about the fact that they had so many villains in the movie, but I went to see it last night and really enjoyed it. I still have quibbles with some of the decisions made about Venom and other things, but it was still a fun movie. I came to this decision after having gone to watch the movie to form my opinion on the overall product.

As it should be done, form an opinion on how well you like the movie after you've seen it.

I totally agree. What with Welker getting the elbow, my enthusiasm was almost totally gone. This news about the lips staying in the film has completely drained any residual excitement I had left. I simply won't be seeing this now, I refuse to support poor creative choices and an insulting film team.
Your second point is good too. Anyone who thinks you need a mouth to convey emotion is lacking imagination.

Now that you two have finished congratulating each other about how wonderful each of you are, stop and think. In Spiderman 3, Spiderman did not have a mouth in his mask, and Venom did have a mouth in his mask, and do you know why? BECAUSE VENOM HAS A FREAKIN MOUTH IN HIS MASK AND SPDERMAN DOES NOT!! If they had put a mouth on spiderman's mask, and made his costume green and yellow, would you just have accepted it, and waited till after you saw the piece of crap to say anything? Optimus prime does not have F*****G lips!!! its really that simple. The thought of looking at a mutilated Optimus Prime does'nt exactly sit well with people that are fans of Optimus Prime. If there was any way that a fan could try to stop that from happening, they probably would, and that includes voicing their opinion on this board. I think the best way to try that is by saying, screw this, i'm not going to see it. Oh yeah, the flames F*****G Suck too!!!
Maybe one day, the'll make a movie about you, and for updating puposes, they'll add a pair of tits to you. And thats alright cause nobody will have an opinion about it till after they've seen it.

Sweet! A post that insults me, misrepresents my opinion, and commits at least three argumentative fallacies! I feel honored.
Also, Venom does not technically wear a mask.

Its an alien costume. Therefore, It has a mask.
I didn't speak for you, so how is you opinion misrepresented? I was clearly saying people can voice their opinion about a S***Y looking mouth where it does'nt belong, without having seen the movie yet. They've shown enough pictures, and besides that, Seibertron went to se the freaking 28 minutes of footage already, and has expressed similar complaints. The mouth sucks, and could very well ruin the look of the movie, so that seems to be a pretty big problem. Besides that, the rest of what i said was funny.

In that case, the symbiote as a whole is the actual mask in and of itself. But now we're getting into a semantics argument about comic book physics of alien creatures that can possess people.

Not really, if it was the mask, it would be the bit that crawls over his face to hide it. But yeah, let's get back to Transformers.
