its a matter of preference, and if you join a lot of 1-11 missions.
a strafe repairer has a chance of making GREAT xp.

Re: Question about repair
Avoid repair is good. Honestly though I would wait till level 3 / 4 for an Avoid/Repair.
Why? Well on single fights or 5/5 fights you will yield a lower XP return for the levels below 3 on an avoid/repair build. Avoid yields a 50xp return per avoid. Repair yields X amount of xp times level bonus. For the level fights (1-2,2-3,2-4,etc) this bonus is not going to yield high xp so your growth may be slower than a strafer/repair because your basic attacks are just single XP yield returns and not mulitple (strafe) or high damage xp (ram) returns. Also at levels below 3 you tend to not have enough XP to build a strong repairer. A gadget repair build with high strength would actually work amazingly in 1-11.

Oh, that explains why my strafer and rammer got more XP than usual.

NW- you got a team link?
i can offer some advice if i know what xp you're workin with
Annie has a good point up there, but depending on a few things it could be really advantageous of you to build a high courage/speed "explosion machine" with a lot of ranks in strafe/avoid or strafe repair.
the current high score is held by a level 5 on an alt with repair as a solo tactic i believe. with a strafer right behind
http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar ... n_id=11116
for the vast majority of people, a repairer is now a viable option once you have the xp to pull it off

Re: Question about repair
Well returns for XP work on level multipliers but also tactic multipliers.
You will get more XP back from finishing off an opponent from a tactic than you will from just hitting them. There are exceptions to this such as avoid and repair tactics.
In terms of damage this however this is relative to your builds. A good Strafer can do over 100 points of damage in a single move (typically across the group and not just to one person). Individual strafe moves do typically less damage than direct attacks, but the multiple attacks adds up much faster. Ram attacks often do more damage than a single typical attack. A 10 strength rammer can and has done up to 70% damage in a single round. This is not typical as most even level rams are around 26-33%.
Avoiders and Repairers however have one thing that the Strafe/Rams don't suffer from and that is the armor/endurance modifiers. A repairer can do as much repair as the points that are put into it, and an avoider will always get 50 points.

level 0, speed and avoid are the only tactics that really matter, even thin its still just dumb luck.
repairing really starts to look good when you have missions with higher level allies

Re: Question about repair
You could also focus in on strength and ram at level 0. The strength would be a bonus because you get armor for increased damage reduction.

true, but the armor and damage isnt as good as the accuracy, bonus to be missed, and feeder stat to avoid, that speed boosts IMHO

I can't argue with you, but the way I look at it is at level 0 the decrease in damage received is more constant than a feeder stat such as avoid that has less than a 40% chance at firing off. The good thing about avoid is that it adds extra XP / Energon.

Re: Question about repair
Honestly as soon as you put strength on. Iron armor works great till at least level 2/3. At that point Rank two will hold you till about 5. From what I am seeing with my armor testing it is a slight increase for rank beyond two with where I am at at Rank 5 being my final tests and doing pretty well.Nightwarp wrote:Also what is the recommend lv to start getting armour?

The thing to remember is that while you're levelling up, so are your opponents. So they're getting stronger, you need to strenghten your defenses to match.
So really, you may not notice a significant increase in armour defense, unless you're beating up lower levels.
