Transformer Models (Idea, not Actual)

Postby SoulOfPrimus » Sat Feb 10, 2007 5:25 pm

I was looking over my tf pic's from the movie and I thought that the new designs should be released as action/models like how Gundam did.

It would be nice to build it before I put it on the display shelf... Custom colors, Kit-bashing... It'd be fun, right?

Also, how would we go about making this happen?

I think it's possible. I mean, if you look at all of the liscences running around from Hasbro to a gaggle of other companies like Corgi, etc. I think it would be fairly easy for Hasbro to sell the TF liscence to a model car company, even Lionel. Yup, it's worth a thought.

I'm no expert at model building, though I have a few Gundam models. But anyway, wouldn't that have to simplify the actual Transformations themselves? And some models aren't as sturdy as regular figures, and tend to break. Models also tend to be more expensive than a regular figure, so I'd probably only get Bumblebee if they made them.

Then again, they make Knock Off G1 Kabaya models, so it could work.

True, there might be some lost articulation... then again there might be more.

I'm not looking for something that can be handled all day long, more of a display piece.

That SD maximus is pretty cool. I'm not a big fan of SD, though the only SD I was exposed to was a Gundam show on toonami. If you know what I'm talking about, you cringed when I mentioned it.

Not necessarily. I have A LOT of MG kits, PG kits, and HG kits and the ones from the past two years are really sturdy. Hell, when I built MG Freedom Gundam I actually played with him for about an hour and not one piece fell off. I just recently did the same with my 2.0 Titans and nothing happened. If they use the inner frame mechanics that Bandai uses they could pull it off. Hell the MG/PG Zeta Transforms, and that Transformation is REALLY complex compared to a lot of the TF's out there.

Building a TF before you display it? You should try the Kabaya kits that Might Gaine sells.

I have Blaster, Highbrow and Brainstorm and despite the colours they actually look nice with the G1 guys, especially Blaster with Springer.

They are also quite sturdy and the Headmaster heads are as articulate as the originals. The only differences between these Kabaya models and the original G1 are the sizes and colours. I actually prefer the sizes of Blaster and the Kabaya Headmasters.

Oh, Powermaster Prime's Kabaya incarnaion looks excellent with G1 Metroplex and the WSTF's.

Well, like I said, I don't have a bunch of models. And the MG/PG Zeta is one of those $100+ models, so I expect the plastic to be good quality. The tranformation is more complex than a Transformer, really? I'll take your word on it, having never actually transformed it, but the transformatin didn't really look all that difficult in the show.

And yes, I cringed at the SD Gundam on Toonami. Only Gundam show I never gave a chance too. 5 minutes, and that was enough. How could they give Captain Gundam a FACE!

I like the SD look and models though, and have quite a few, cause they were $2 each. And $3 for a pretty cool SD GP-03(unit 3 from 0083) is better than almost $300+ for a 1/144 scale model of one of my fave Gundams. No model is worth that much: http://www.gundamstoreandmore.com/ban907985.html

I'd also like to mention that the Zapper Zaku from Superior Defender actually had a really good design, and it's a cool SD kit.

One final thing though, I kind of like regular action figures cause they look good out of the box, no painting required. Most models require extensive careful painting to look as good as the box, and that takes a lot of skill.
