I think Dreamworks should make a mix tape of all the studio execs who'd passed on the movie before, crying.

The movie opened early.
It was playing 24/7 in some locations.
So realistically... they fudged the numbers. Any titles they wish to claim that have no right to. Its called cheating.
You know, I was wondering when the resident haters would show up and sprout some bullshit in a lame effort to discredit this movie.
I expected something a bit more than "fudged figures".
But I guess at this stage they don't have much left to hold onto.
Yeah, it's not called cheating if that's how much money it's made. As I always say: "It is what it is."

Harry Potter was good, but nowhere near as good as Transformers.

I saw Potter this past Sunday. Sadly, it was not very good, especially compared to the first two. I had a hard time following the plot, some of the major characters only had two scenes, and the motivations behind this movie's main antagonist were very confusing. The guy next to me fell asleep and started to snore. I was pretty disappointed.

This movie is going to hit $1 billion worldwide. No doubt in my mind. I went to a matinee' last week (a MATINEE!!) and the upper portion of the theater was full (there were 5 empty rows out of 35)...something you almost never see during the day, whether school is on or not. it's a very good sign, indeed. Wait til it hits Japan...I'll wager $100 million the first week in japan alone.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.

Don´t get any ilusions. The 300 million mark is very good. hitting the 500 mark is going to be very hard if not impossible, let alone a billion. But the fact the movie has got this kind of revenue is incredible.

The franchise itself could top 1 billion with the second movie and into the third( if indeed this is a trilogy or more) but the first movie will probably top out in 400-500 million range in theaters and perhaps upwards of 600 mill with dvd releases.

That is alot of money.
Not as much as Harry Potter though, it's already made 10 million dollars more worldwide (it's now at 330 million after one week, whereas Transformers is at 320 million after two weeks)

I believe potter is open in the U.K. already whereas transformers still has 2 more weeks before it hits there. The fair comparison would be how much money is made overall once the markets are all equal.

*sigh* Harry Pothead is already ahead of TF in total gross internationally and it hasn't been out a week yet..

TF Collection: It has come time to start looking to sell instead of buy, I'll be posting details in the b/s/t forum.

So what if Harry Potter made 10 mill more than Transformers. Transformers hasn't been released on the big world wide markets besides the U.S. Harry Potter already has.

I will admit I went to see Harry Potter....HOWEVER, I used a Free Pass on the movie, so no money for it.
As a reader of the books, I didn't like the 5th one as much, but it is good movie to see with a bunch of friends that love to put the "Mystery Science Theater 3000 Twist" on the movie.
-Gwop looked like the boy's face on the Mad TV Logo
-"He's Back" made everyone yell sarcastic marks in our theater, my friend "No Sh** Sherlock!" XD
I aslo went to see TransFormers a third time and the theater was packed, so I was happy to see the movie still strong in the 2nd week.

So it's more than doubled it's budget, and will easily pass $400 million. Since it has some very heavily populated countries to open, it could even approach $450 million.
Not surprised that HP5 has surpassed it within a week though.
