I'm also hoping & banking on the THREE hasbro toyfairs (UK,Canada,NYC,usa) to have tons of newer 2012 TF toys on display.
waaaaghlord wrote:It's one of the best Megatron designs we've ever seen and I don't see it changing any time soon. Simplistic? Hardly. It's streamlined, it's got curves, this just adds to the engineering challenge of rendering the design in toy form. You've made the same complaint about Animated toys despite the fact that were some marvelous and inventive engineering solutions in that line which allowed for a level of screen acuracy we never thought we'd see when the show designs were first revealed. And now you're asking for them to dust off an unused Animated design? After all the times you've ranted and raved about Animated? Really? Let's be honest here, the only reason you want that Megatron in particular is that you've been told you can't have it.
Here's what it really comes down to. If you don't like the TFP Megatron design, don't buy one. I really can't see how it can upset you if you don't have to look at it.
I often disagree with the content of your posts, but don't often reply as I try not to get drawn into arguments over what is at the end of the day just our shared passtime. I won't be replying to any comment you make in relation to this post although I may keep an eye on the thread. I just felt I needed to say something this time when you demonstrate what I see as shear hypocrasy by asking for the release of an Animated toy design after many months of bashing the Animated asthetic and toy line at every opportunity.
Over and out.
1- "We've",seems to imply everyone likes the TF Prime,Megatron media/toy designs. I seriously doubt every TF fan worldwide loves this TF Prime,Megatron media/toy line design the best out of all the megatron media/toys from 1984 thru 2012.
1a- TF fans are a diverse group, with radically different taste & likes. IMO,For every TF fan that likes something, their is a TF fan that dis-likes what that TF fan liked. recent examples: Those 2012 TFCC Botcon convention exclusives.
2-If Hasbro promises to deliver on it promise that the TF Prime cartoon/toy line will last over 3 years.IMO,then were bound to see Upgraded newer designs for some chracters in the cartoon/toy line of TF prime. Going by previous examples:(1) the movie verse gave megatron a new design for each movie. (2)Beastwars gave some characters upgraded designs in each newer season/toy line year. (3) AEC,Which SOME fans consider "the unicron trilogy",in the same set universe & connecting toy lines. kept giving us updated & upgraded media/toy designs for 4 years.
3-I'll be the first to admit,I don't like the so called: "highly stylized" TF toys that animated, movie verse & some TF Prime toys have. the more highly stylized the toys, the cheaper plastic gets used, the more easier the transformation is.
4- I clearly stated in other threads here. that I didn't think the whole entire TF animated toy line was a failure/bust. I clearly listed a Few TF animated toys I bought & enjoyed. like as follows: Animated voyager & leader sized MNegatron. Animated Leader sized ultra magnus. Animated deluxe blurr, deluxe arcee, deluxe lockdown, deluxe swoop, voyager blitzwing, voyager shockwave.
It's worth a serious mention. That I did try my hardest & best to give the 2008 Animated line a shot. I bought about 90% of the animated toys. I tried them all, transformed, played with & displayed them. I just found the average animated toy to be lacking in key areas like cheaper thin plastic, infeior toy engineering, display stabilty problems in robot mode. ugly toddler looking robot faces. weirdly designed mis-proportioned body parts. skinny legs with big bulky upper robot torso's.
Since I'm a comic/toy convention dealer in my state,I sold these all at this toy convention. I obviously kept the animated toys I liked.
I'm not a completist & I never want to be. I buy what i like & leave the rest for others to buy. Even with my most loathed TF toy lines,I always find a gem/awesome toy to buy. In fact from 1996 thru 2012,I find the most awful TF toy lines always have the best singular figure that I like. example: beastmachines ultra sized toy jetstorm. animated leader sized toy megatron.
5- I'm a TF fan with ideas, since this is a TF message forum. I like to express my ideas on my likes/dis-likes. in the hopes official companies like hasbro, idw, takara, read my threads/replies & design stuff the way I like. after all companies love reading feedback from it's buyers/fans. by everyone giving feedback on their dis-likes/hates the companies get a idea what buyers/fans want to buy. All these TF forums are not only for positive feedback, their for everything like negative feedback comments to. If all we do is post positive comments then stuff the majority dis-likes will never get fixed/axed/alterted.
5a-it's not as simple as "don't like, don't buy",this sounds like advice that is given to a Completist. not a casual buyer like myself. Obviously it goes without saying, stuff I lothe in design,I ain't buying. Again the purpose of negative feedback comments by TF fans on all these TF message forums on the internet,is to EVOKE CHANGE & hope the official companies are reading these TF forums threads/replies. RECENT example: all those TF fans feedback comments on the TFCC Botcon 2012 convention TF figures. Some post negative comments,in hopes TFCC/FUN Pub is reading the TF forums & makes better toys next year.
6- In dozens of threads here on these seibertron.com forums. I've always praised that TF Animated cancelled leader sized tripple changer Maruader Megatron toy design. I never write off a entire TF toy line,I always find a few gems/awesome toys in even my most loathed/dis-liked TF toy lines.
My favorite TF toys from any TF toy line, are the ones that stray from the toy line design aesthetics. the ones that stick out like a sore thumb & look like they were meant to be in another TF toy line. the ones that have the bare minium catered to toy line design aesthetics. examples: (1)TM2 Tigerhawk,This looks like it was meant to be a 1998 ultra sized Fuzor toy for silverbolt & not for the 1999 TM2 toy line.
(2)Animated Leader sized Megatron, this design looks like it was meant to be a homage to the 1991 battle stars/return od convoy super megatron art designs. the toy doesn't look like it belongs in the animated toy line. as it's more bulkier looking & less teen titans looking.
(3)Car robots Gigatron,It's a 6/10 changer with the most rounded off body parts/limbs of the entire Car robots 13 new molds released in this toy line. It appears this gigatron was meant to be a BW Neo or watever toy line toy. gigatron's design & alt modes simply don't fit in with the realistic liscensed vechicle modes the 13 newer car robots toys had.
(4)Beastmachines ultra sized jetstorm. appears to follow the toy line aesthetics to the bare minium & is IMO,The best designed BM toy ever. it manages to look non-ugly in both modes which is rare for the BM toy line.
(5)Armada Unicron. this toy is beyond super poseable. it obviously did not follow the brick former limited poseabilty guide lines for the aesthetics of the armada toy line.
DISCHARGE wrote: I really think you need to stop being so judgmental about these toys deathy. Give them a chance. Transform them, pose them, make 'em fight.
I take the "try me" & return 90 store policies to the extreme. I'm always trying stuff & If I don't like it gets returned at the store I bought it at for a full refund.
I often buy dozens of yearly new TF toys. try them, what I like stays, what I dislike gets returned at the store for a refund.
I often buy TF toys I know I'll hate just to get the enjoyment of transforming the toy, playing with something new, then with the intents of returning at the store for a full refund.
so,as you can plainly see. I'm not one of those TF fans that make feedback comments on TF toys i've never bought & never played with.
