Batman is way more ruthless.
Hal has his moments but he's basically a inter galactic cop that believes in the Justice system
Batman believes that there in no justice....unless you make it your self.

That's the same position as The Punisher. Except if the Punisher ever fought the Joker, the Joker would not be a recurring villain.

I wouldnt go that far.
The Joker is pretty adept at getting away when he really wants to.
the way I see it as long as he can get away he'll live.
But if he ever gets caught by the Punisher its all over.

I wonder if the reason Hal gets so much hate from fans is because Batman, who is DC's most popular character, hates Hal?

Claiming Fox News has real journalists is like claiming Twilight has real vampires, it's just illogical.

I dont think thats the case.
I think the Hal hate stems from the inability of the writters to make the character interesting.
Not to say that in the last 2 years they havent done a good job but over all, Hal Jordan has seen more canceled comic runs then many of the other DC alumni.
And to top it off DC made some mistakes with his character like making him a Bigot, trying to tell more interesting stories but ultimately leaving a bad taste in readers mouths.
Making him a pedophile wasnt that good of a choise either.

I'm more inclined to believe that it has a LOT to do with Batman's attitude toward Hal.

Batman also hates the Joker, but that doesn't mean people hate the Joker. I don't think Batman's opinion of other characters can sway reader's opinions.

But Batman hates Hal alot more than he hates the Joker. I'd say Hal is probably DC's least popular character.

Agreed.
God Thundercracker wrote:But Batman hates Hal alot more than he hates the Joker.
Nonsense.Batman has never tried to kill Hal.
The Joker killed the second Robin, Paralyzed Batgirl and killed Jim Gordans wife.
Trust me theres almost no one Batman hates more then the Joker.

And how is that Batmans fault???
Thasts the fault of the writters.
Hal was one od DC least popular characters durring the Silver age and then Hal and Batman were friends.

Then you dont recall a great deal.
This "Batman doent get along with groups or other heroes" trend started in the late 70's to early 80's.
Before that Batman was pretty much good friends with the entire JLA, going to X-mas parities birthday parities and even singing with other characters.
He was quite friendly with Hal.

And yet saleswise he's DC's second top selling solo title after batman. He's going to be star of next years big crossover. Yeah, he's really unpopular.

What does Thor have to do with any of this....hes Marvel not DC.And I know DC has a "Thor" as well but as far as I know they never gave him a solo series.
And I didnt say that Hal saw the most canceled runs.
And I really would call Supergirl or the Legion part of DC's alumni.
To me that title falls to the characters that stared in their own book in the silver age.
Superman
Batman
Wonderwoman
Auqaman
The Silver Age Green lantern [Hal]
The silver age Flash [Barry]
Or characters that were members of the Silver age JLA like
Hawkman [Katar Hal]
The Martian Manhunter.

Yeah I forgot to point that out.
Hal is one of the most popular DC characters in print these days.
He's out selling Superman wonderwoman and the JLA.
Even I'm reading Hal right now.
And its because ,for the moment anyway, they are making him an interesting character for the first time since the 90's.
And then it was because they made him a mass murderer.

A revenge killing????revenge for what???
Not to mention that Batman doesnt go around killing people on a regular bases.

I can't stand Batman. Ever since the mid-1990s, he's acted like a spoiled rich boy who thinks he's better than everyone else.

Yeah, when he got on Wonder Woman's case for killing Max Lord. That really annoyed me, because I thought it was necessary in order to stop Max from taking control of Superman again, and because Batman was partly responsible for the problem in the first place, what with his spy satellite crap.

None of which is an example of Batman acting like a "spoiled rich boy who thinks he's better than everyone else".
And in the long run the spy satellite had nothing to do with Max's control of Superman.
So I'm still waiting for an example of the behavior you described.

Why was Hal mourning Batman's death in Blackest Night 0? I would think he would be celebrating, given the long history of animosity between them.

Because he's not a villain? Anymore, at least. Batman's rogues gallery would be celebrating, but another hero, even one that didn't like Batman (Which is a decent portion of the DC universe) would not.
