Cool characters, crap toys

Come to think of it . . .
Sunstorm is also a disappointing character. I want one, but I don't know if I'm ready to shell out $150+ on a repaint of Starscream who was a "filler" character for two episodes in G1. I have the Universe version, but I don't really like the Armada Thrust mold, and he looks like he escaped from the Creamscicle farm.
Roadbuster. Such an awesome character--but he's only gotten one toy. Now, it is an awesome figure, but it's a pity that Hasbro never gave us an Alternator version or even a Universe repaint, such as they did for Whirl. Whirl gets a kickin' Universe repaint and Attactix figures--where's the love for the other Wreckers?
Death's Head. No toy. Hell, I'd be content if they were to make a Marvel Legend's figure of Death's Head 3.0 (such as he appeared on the last page of the series) at this point.

Armada Sideways. I thought he was pretty neat in the show, then I get the toy, and it can barely move. WTH?

Ya know, I never thought of it in a BM way! Should IDW have a Beast Machines mini-series, they could easily upgrade Grimlock into T-Wrecks, as was implied by the Tech Specs. Maybe Furman was setting the pieces into play.
As for others, I don't particularly like what I've seen from Wheeljack that much.
All the show deluxe Autobots. If it wasn't for the powerlinking, they could have been so much better. It's the littel flaws that really hurt them, and Prowl has no neck.
I'm not too big on BW Rampage, way too back heavy. Then again, I don't have one nearly complete, mine has no guns and only two crap legs.
G1 Silverbolt(based off the KO I have). Even for a G1, one of the lesser articluated ones.
Finally, Guiltor, cause he never got any figures whatsoever. Then again, he kind of didn't really warrent a figure back then cause he was a one-shot appearance. But still, a new figure of him would be so sweet.

You forget to mention that G1 Hot Rod was one of the nicest G1 toys made, especilly post movie, and has one of the more enjoyable and well designed transformations.

I wouldnt call these two crap either, OK, they should have given Starscream a little extra something, becuase what works at Voyager size looks a bit too simple at supreme size, but he was a good toy, as was a megs, even if he did have to walk like a crab.

Energon Prime has a good character?
There are good characters in the Energon cartoon?
I want a series without ruddy Optimus Prime.

I'm with you. I think these comments should be placed within the context of their time periods. Sure, many if not all of the G1 stuff is crap compared to what comes out today. Yet, for their time, most were ingenious. A lot had very cool poses possible, if not the articulation of today's toys. I remember being able to point Primes gun straight out from his side and turn his head do he was minimizing his profile. Very nice. Sure, Hotrod couldn't move his shoulders, but I found his posability and looks far superior to Roddimus Prime's.
G1 Cyclonus pales in comparison to his toon incarnation. I'd love a Classics rendition done for him. Yet, his alt mode was pretty cool. He had some posability, but I think I played with him more as a space plane than as a robot.
G1 Galvatron didn't fit his toon counterpart, but I still felt he was far superior to the playability of Megatron. With that said, I do have to say that Megatron's arm cannon made him worth it, IMHO.
Today's toys are very nicely built, if sometimes lacking a bit in design or imagination. But back when I played with the G1 toys, back before they were expensive

I do think that it's a bit unfair to compare today's toys to those twenty or more years older.
That said, the one G1 toy that might hold up in comparison: Jetfire.

You guys are leaving out Astrotrain.....
He was awesome in the cartoon but why was he so small? He should of been at least the size of Megatron or the Seekers.

Wasn't Broadside the same way? And Sky Lynx? And pretty much every other Transformer they used for transport in the show? Dude, seriously, size reference charts like didn't exist 20 something years ago.

G1 Astrotrain. Saw the character and imagined a big super cool toy, just as he was on the show. I finally picked up the figure and just said "What the hell is this tiny little block!?"
Today I appreciate the toy and like it ALOT but I just couldn't help feeling a little cheated when I first got him.

To me basically any post movie G1 toys. There were some great characters, but the majority of the toys bit hard.

From ToplessRobot.com:• "Watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is marginally better than sh***ing your pants, but it takes a lot longer." Very well put.

Classics Astrotrain?
Yeah but Classics Astrotrain isn't even Grey!
I'm glad I got the Ehobby Astrotrain when it was cheap. The best Astrotrain was the one in that fold out that used to come with the G1 Transformers. That one looked bad ass.

He was small and the wrong Color. They could of just made it a decent size. The Ehobby version works color wise on the other hand!
I never had Sky lynx's but Skyfire (jetfire) was a good size if you ask me.
