Something not mentioned, but I think Bruticus is an easier sell.
He's got diverse components. As in the alt modes aren't all the same thing, at that, they're pretty different. Truck, jeep, tank, helicopter and space shuttle. It's a good range of appeal. So if you only own two parts, it's two different things. For story writing purposes it allows for more to work with too.

I've got the original menasor giftset cost me a bomb but worth it. All i need are Defensor/Bruticus giftsets for my colleciton.

Odd... I tend to feel like I see Computron around alot more than Defensor, at least as a combiner. As a team it's the other way around.

It's FunPub. It's their specialty.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned the PCC line at all in this thread. Granted, it saw a Bruticus, Devastator, and Superion-type combiner, it also saw Defensor and Menasor, albeit with the wrong drones (the stunticons were paired with Over-run). And there was even an Dinobot combiner, the Beast Dino-pope!

I actually liked the fact the PCC brought new combiner ideas to the table with the Destructicons and Destrons. As much as I would love updated versions of the likes of Defensor and Computron, I would love it if new combiner teams were conceived. People hated the PCC because they used drones, but they were all capable of combining. Sometimes just using the same characters gets played out.
I was very surprised an Insecticon theme was not used with the PCC.
I painted the Aerialbot team in BW Pred colors and made my own combiner:
Yeah I am not perfect at painting and Rampage(Wasp too) still needs some work, but I like 'em.
We are given so much to work with already. Don't let the fact that an official product is not given to you. Build your own combiners

What bugs me is that NONE of the homages to Bruticus and his parts get recolored into corresponding Ruination homages. When will Ruination reawaken?

RID has been so forgotten that the current overarching toyline is called RID.
That should kinda answer your question, sadly.

Transformers RID was ok but lacked the specialness or memory of Transformers G1 or Beastwars even. There was nothing memorable about RID.
Even know Hasbro/Takara are ignoring menasor by doing Bruticus again! in WFC lineup. Anyway is there going to be a TFC/TP Menasor coming out I keep hearing rumours but nothing else. I always love looking at the Custom Menasors people have made over the years, may favourite being Frenzyrumbles version.

Re: Hasbro love affair with bruticus..poor menasor
Don't lose hope, guys. Power Core Combiners was a great test to see if combiner technology could be updated to today's standards. With the onset of Fall of Cybertron, Bruticus is ushering in the first design of modern-era Scramble City designs, probably thanks to PCCs. Hasbro also expressed an interest in using this technology somehow in the future.
Let's think positive and see what else 2013 brings. Maybe a Stunticon combiner is possible... though I'd guess that they'd be all deluxe, MAYBE with an exception to Motormaster, in order to scramble with FoC Bruticus. We might even see a WFC Breakdown toy get made as part of the set. Yes, it's all speculation at this point, but FoC Bruticus DID open up the possibility... IF it sells well. But I'm sure it'll be a hit at least with collectors.
tl;dr - Be optimistic. Fan love usually leads up to something bigger than homages.

Yeah, but not-Motormaster was sold with the "Destrons" for some reason. The Stunticons were packaged with Spastic/Over-run. And they aren't at all the right colors anyway. Of course, the Destrons look pretty great with Crankcase, so I'm not complaining.

But then, what strikes me as TRULY strange is that the "Rallybots", packaged with Double Clutch, are ALL basically the proper G1 Stunticon colors, albeit in the wrong formation (not-Breakdown drone being the right arm instead of right leg and not-Wildrider drone being the left leg instead of left arm...)

The more I look at them, the more I realize that we've been trolled. They're all exactly 90 degrees separated from where they would be. ._.;

None of them match G1 Stunticons because none of them ARE G1 Stunticons, nor are they meant to homage them in any way.RAcast wrote:njb902 wrote:Yeah, but not-Motormaster was sold with the "Destrons" for some reason. The Stunticon drone set is just that - a drone set. Spastic is the only real sentient Stunticon of the PCC line, and he's not meant to be any of the original 5, even Drag Strip, despite the color/alt mode homage. He's just another member of the Stunticons that was never included in the core combiner group of the Stunticon sub-faction.
Which is what I believe Hasbro said they were wanting to go with this line(and others). They wanted the sub-factions to be whole groups that the teams seen in the shows were only a small squad of. Therefore, there's dozens of dinobots, dozens of Stunticons, dozens of Protectobots, etc.
Also, Destrons, Rallybots, etc are brand new sub-factions. They don't have a connection yet with the Stunticons or any other previous group.
You can mix & match PCCs as you wish, but they weren't meant to entirely match old characters, so it's irrational basing complaints on the assumption that they are.

That's precisely what I'm saying as well. I'm not saying any of the PCC stuff is SUPPOSED to be the G1 counterpart. All I'm showing is that you can make a decent approximation of the G1 counterpart.
Also, my statement about the PCC Stunticons being packaged 'strangely' is simply because PCC Crankcase is so obviously a Menasor homage.

Yup, it's caliburst and he's one of my favorite of the PCC minicon molds.
That shade of translucent blue is simply perfect, too.

I got him as part of a lot, this was from my immediate picture taking, hence the blurry stuff in the background.
