I don't know if you like G1 or not, but you should give "Megatron: Origin" a go. It shows Megs as a good guy.

Apparentely none of you have read the Prequel Comic.

In the comic, it starts out with a huge fight on Cybertron. The Autobots jetisan the Allspark into space to stop the war, and Megatron goes after it, without a ship, just in his jet mode. He chases it for deca-cycles until he tracks it to our little blue ball we call Earth. When he lands, he's tired, drained of energy, and just so happens to be about a bazillion degrees farenheit when he sets his feet in the arctic, so naturally he sinks and is frozen...

ANYWAYS, the POINT is that he was indeed just LOOKING for the Allspark. He wanted its power for himself and had no idea where he was or that humans would eventually crawl out of the primordial ground.

SO... there you have it...

Megatron wasn't a bad guy. He just got screwed over royaly by the system.

Corretion: He said Megatron came looking for the Allspark.

Later he said Megatron would use it to transform Earth's machines if he got ahold of the Allspark.

You're insunuating that Megatron knew Humans inhabited the planet when froze, which isn't plausable seeing as he fell pretty quickly, probabbly with no idea organics were there at all.

When he woke up, he was being held by humans. Humans have technology that can be transformed by the allspark; Get the allspark, transform the machines, sounds like a plan.

I think Optimus might have been predicting what Megatron would do if he got a hold of it rather then that was his original intensions.

I agree. Megatron's no fool, and Optimus knows this. He knows how to take advantage of a situation. After all, how long does it take somebody to think "Hey, I could conceivably use this" and then think of a plan to do just that? I myself need only a few seconds to do so, and I'm just a freakin' civilian.
