Fact is Megatron managed to get killed off in the FIRST movie.

Yea but they could bring him back as Galvatron.

Or as Megatron with new alt mode.

New toys to sell!

Or as Megatron with new colours!!

Repaint? Oh no, not again!

Yeah, but we still took out a few D-cons.
Specifically when the humans bombed Skoponok and when Lennox blasted Blackout from below.

Which was a crock. :-x Humans should never be able to contend with any TF.

i don't buy the betrayal theory. It's too early in the series. They provided so little character background on the decepticons anyway that showing SS bomb megs on purpose would be confusing. They didn't show any power struggle between the 2. Not much else I can say, i gotta watch it again, but i feel this is an overreaction to the scene.

i personally do not think that starscream attack megs. for one thing...it would be confusing as hell for anyone that is NOT familiar with Transformers. Because you see Starscream loyal to Megatron throughout the few scenes with them in it. So it just doesnt make any logical sense. I'm just gonna say that Megs will be back for TF2 and they will introduce the Starscream betrayal in the next movie. I'm hoping for some seekers in the next movie..along with Soundwave and the constructicons..so there will some sort of civil war between the decepticons. or some story kinda like that.

I'd find it funny if Soundwave had a complex and just kept uttering "Soundwave: inferior" throughout a sequel.

At very least Starscream betrayed Megatron by not covering him. One minute he's behind the jets and in the thick of things... the next he's not. He either just let the humans blast Megatron or joined them himself.

It's not clear in the movie because I think it'll be something explained in the next one.

I totally think Starscream took the shot.

It's alluded to that Starscream intends to betray Megatron in both of the prequil stories.

I think that it's possible that Starscream fired at Megatron, but it's not that clear. I can't really tell, maybe in TF 2 there will be something about it...I do believe that there's a feud between Megatron and SS. That's easy to conclude when Megatron said that SS failed him yet again.
Actually he did provide support for Megatron when he took out some F-22's. What makes me doubt that he fired at Megatron was that he already had used his F-22 missiles when he attacked the autobots. I think that's why he had to keep transforming in order to attack the F-22's. So if that's true, then there's no way he fired at Megatron.
Anyway we'll know for sure in 2009, good idea to keep us guessing about that.

But what percentage of the people that went to see the film will have read the prequels?

I like the idea of Starscream betraying Megatron by not covering / defending his leader, but maybe Starscream believed Megatron could handle himself.

whether it appears that SS really took the shot or not, it surely is not intended by Bay. He's really not "in-depth" with the TF folklore.

ugh... this thread is full of idiots.

Quit targeting Bay with everything. Personally I don't care whether it was his idea or not. For all I care he can steal it and say it was his idea all along. Because if I walk past him on the street I'm not going to know who the frick he is.

Secondly let's clarify something...

Does Transformers Armada go right along with G1 storyline? Does Energon? Does Cybetron series? Does the movie? no. You all should be smart enough to know that nothing is going to be G1. The movie was just made to put the transformers in a more realistic situation. Eye candy is all it is.

As far as starscream bombing, it's a good theory. It may or may not have happened. But that's what makes Transformers... more than a few buckets of theories.

I don't care whether he actually did it or not. Either way, in my version of things he did.
Life can be pretty sweet when your alt-mode is a B-2 Stealth Bomber.

when SS transforms for the dive into the city, you clearly see he takes Second place in the line.

if you pause the movie, the missle comes right between the middle of Jet#2 and 3. It could be either way. However with Bay continuing to show Starscream hanging out offscreen, and also leaving the Rachet/Ironhide conflict after only a few seconds of fighting, it would seem to me Bay intended to make SS look suspicious. whether this is true we may neve know.

in my eyes, SS was out to stop Megatron and claim the Allspark for himself.

definately, but i got from friend of mine that arent huge TF fans, say they thought Starscream was acting "shady"

one friend made two good points

1: Starscream goes for sam when he has the cube and Megs is busy with Prime.

2: when Sam is by himself SS lands on the adjacent roof top
almost like a vulture waiting for its prize.

i guess it depends on wheather the writers had the prequel written in thier head or not. It could go either way.

Maybe they don't have an idea yet where to bring it. Hence, intentionally left it vague.
