War for Cybertron Kingdom Discussion The Beasts Return!

They don't normally like to have the same character in two lines. So Kingdom Tigatron alongside MP Tigatron seems odd and out of place. Polar Claw would have been preferable. Then again, for those two in particular, it is ironically the same cycle repeated once more.

I didn't think the Masterpiece line really counted for that.

...theoretically that could be true, but it seems veeery unlikely, the leaked number of Fossilizers has always been 5, there were always supposed to be multiple Core Class Fossilizers, and I feel like Apollux or one of the other credible sources would have confirmed by now if Vertebreak and Dracodon were the same figure, since they were able to confirm the stuff that got cut.william-james88 wrote:Coud it be that Dracodon and Vertebreak are one and the same? I ask simply because Vertebreak turned out to be a Dracorex.
Do multiple Optimus Primes in every line not count? Also, it's not like Tigatron wouldn't be getting made without Polar Claw getting cut, he just would have been a Deluxe repaint instead of a unique Voyager.AllNewSuperRobot wrote:They don't normally like to have the same character in two lines. Honestly, I'm leaning towards no at this point, I think the Fossilizers are going to be mostly Preds and therefore the inverse of the Siege Weaponizers where 5/6 of them were Autobots.Poly Wraith wrote:But dang it...I'm getting confused. Do we still think we have two![]()
Fossilizers at this point? I know the sabretooth is apparently out of the picture (?)

and that was probably meant to be a Maximal since Primal was "wearing" him/her in the concept art.

Rattrap is likely the next beatwars MP and they are doing Starscream, so maybe they think a mainline will improve the MP sales or are indifferent.
Hopefully more stores carry core figures over here as that is quite a chunk to miss out on with rattrap and fossilisers. Maybe now Walmart doesnt own Asda...nah... what a wasted opportunity that was

As far as HasTak (and a sub-section of the fanbase) are concerned, No. The “poster child” has to be in every line, without end..

Meanwhile the show’s budget constraints no longer factor. We don’t need multiple cats and spiders anymore.

Mp's have never counted and never should for what gets made in a standard toy line, otherwise other lines like Studio Series wouldn't make the characters that get covered in the Movie MP line.
Masterpiece are not "action figures" and won't be considered when it comes to a Generations line, otherwise we wouldn't be getting Movie MP's (or the other way around with no Studio Series figures of the movie 1 crew)

I'm glad that Tigatron is getting a toy in favour of Polar Claw, as great as Polar Claw may be it will be awesome to finally have updated toys for all of the show characters.

That’s the thing though. Both Tigatron and Airazor are getting new altmodes. So they won’t be updates to the originals at all.

Well so far I've liked the new alt modes for the rest of the maximals so Tigatron and Airrazor won't be much different.

So, it's not only Wave 1 were this problem can happen, apparently, or Target is just THAT incompetent.
Didn't that end up being a self imposed date because Target wanted to save them for their big endcap display? I know Walmart has also denied sales, but that was usually because they weren't in the computer yet which I'm pretty sure is a thing of the past now that entire lines can be found in listings.

Exactly.
By that logic, one would never buy an Optimus Prime figure ever because he's always in every lines.
Plus comparing a Generations figures to a MP is like comparing apples to oranges. Still, sometime the cheaper Generations figure is way better than the MP. Especially considering the price. Like for Blackarachnia and most likely Megatron.

The fact that 2020 has 4 Arcees coming out means whatever rule you may have thought existed does not.

I'm glad we're getting non-MP beasts. Means I in no way feel any regret for not getting MP Tigatron, but it also makes me sort of regret getting Megatron and Dinobot, and to a lesser extent Blackarachnia. Burning Convoy is just a cool little offshoot, no regret there.

No, because that would never happen and it would be ridiculous to think, especially in this creatively dormant "evergreen" era, they would EVER put a restriction on any Optimus Prime that flood these lines. As previously addressed a few comments above this one.
Rainmaker wrote:Well so far I've liked the new alt modes for the rest of the maximals so Tigatron and Airrazor won't be much different.
They are different Beasts Modes altogether. Not just more "realistic" updates to their previous modes.

Fair enough. It was never 'my' thought though. I go by what I read here. Aside from the City Bots, I haven't bought anything other than Masterpiece for quite some time. Nor would even this one tempt me to do otherwise. Aside from a curiosity in The Ark, when I see it in Bot Mode.

What are you basing this statement on? It's clear they're remaking the show roster. It would be asinine to scrap the iconic looks of the characters now. Now sure, this isn't the Masterpiece line where show accuracy is king, but I also don't see a whole lot of reason for them to radically change Tigatron and Airazor. Plus, they're sort of bound by their names. Tigatron has to be a tiger of some kind and Airazor needs to be a flying creature.

Now an Eagle and Sabretooth Tiger respectively. Revealed by the promo art, thus far. So they are still A Tiger and Bird. Just not the same ones.
The thing to get out of your head, is this isn't Beast Wars. Much like Siege wasn't G1. This is War For Cybertron Beast Wars. They can be similar, but they don't have to be exact. Which is why I liked the initial inclusion of Polar Claw, new altmodes and the Fossilisers. Making a distinction between the two.

Ta. I couldn't seem to find any clearer images for that in a google search, for some reason.
Well, as I said so far all we've got is promo art. When the figure actually debuts we'll know if he is a Sabretooth or not. Teeth look a little bigger than Stripes is normally depicted.

Tigatron still looks like a tiger. Airrazor still looks like some generic hawk/falcon bird-of-prey type animal. Nothing has changed, really. These are not "new" altmodes for these characters.

I have to say I'm super glad we got this Tigatron / Airazor thing settled. For a second there I thought that might have been confirmed info, seems like a lot of people have been throwing out stuff and then it turns out, yes, that's what the leaker is saying is true.
I've had enough "surprises" in this toyline (i.e. no Polar Claw) and the toyline hasn't even hit the shelves yet!!

It's "not Beast Wars" in the same way CHUG is "not G1". Like yeah, they change some things up, but they're also updating iconic characters and if they're too radical of departures, people might not like them. No, it's not a 1:1 remake of Beast Wars the show or original toyline, I said that much myself, but make no mistake, the designs are largely based on the animated series. Blackarachnia has an hourglass figure, Megatron has a hand, there's no mutant masks. Whatever they may say about putting an emphasis on storytelling, the reality is they design toys first and then figure out what kind of world to build around them. It's not a coincidence that these are coming on Beast Wars's 25th anniversary. To that end, it strikes me as unlikely that they'd stray too far from the recognizable features of their characters. They just don't do that much in CHUG, not since the evergreen designs took hold in the mid-2010s.
Also, for whatever it's worth, there's no such thing as a saber-toothed tiger. Power Rangers lied to us. Smilodon is not closely related to tigers and the saber toothed cat family isn't even closely related to felines at all. I know we're kind of stuck with Dinobot looking like a Jurassic Park raptor because of his original toy and the show, but going the other way and changing Tigatron, ignoring what we now know about that species of animal, would seem like a bad PR move if nothing else. (that said I do agree with you that his fangs seem... a bit pronounced in the promo art)
As for Airazor, I don't know enough about birds to care too much about her alt. I think she was a peregrine falcon originally, but as long as she's still some kind of raptor I'm content.
