I hate cross level missions!
They are ruining the game for me. What is the point of having levels at all if everyone is just going to be thrown in the same missions. To be fair to those who don't want to enter cross level missions, when no missions are available a single level mission and a cross level mission should be generated. I'm sorry to rant and rave about this, and I do realize there are probably threads related to HMW suggestions. I know I don't post very often, so please don't ignore my thoughts out of hand. And maybe I am out of touch with what the majority of players want. If so feel, free to tell me to go to you know where. Thank you.

Then avoid them. But at least it gives you a chance to earn large xp. What if you do acctually hit a leve 7, 8, or 9. You score major XP!

Well I think his point of view is what if I'm a L8 and all I can his is L5 or L6. Not as much xp for him as you would get hitting him. He does have a point. Very much to gain if you are a lower end of the cross level and not as much if you are at the higher end.

Ruining???
That's a little extreme.
They are not open to all levels, so it's still limited to roughly the same type of level, you won't get a level 0 bot against a level 5 con.
If you don't like them, don't join them.
I think asking for equal numbers of single and mixed level missions is a bit much- mixed levels are open to more people- so giving more people a chance to play, for less work.
If a mission is open to levels 0-1, are you asking for an equivalent mission to be posted for just level 0? Or both level 0 and level 1, so everyone has an equal number of mixed and single level missions to choose from?
That is a lot of extra missions.
AFAIK not all missions are filled, so adding in extra seems a little pointless.
Personally, I think they are great, if I actually manage to hit something (yeah right) with a higher level than me, I get extra xp- Fab! ( otherwise I'm happy to be Cannon Fodder

It seems I hit alot of cross levels too, but I love them. The chance to get a major XP score, run into higher level friends, take down known names with higher levels.

Crosslevels are fun once in a while if ya score big..
But usually I get smashed by the higher lv Ramming populace(far less in strafers pop. really) of Decepticons, usually me getting away with either a huge amount of xp(no greater than 5k cos I can't reach that 12k I did once...), a little decent xp (600 - 800 xp), or just flat out shut outs...
If I see a crosslevel mission I don't want to enter, I just usually throw my bots into the arena... and that's rarely.. since going into the arena's against my Suicide Squad code.

Another example of how a cross level can be awesome. My namesake is a level 1 and he scored a little over 1000XP in a losing mission. At the end of the fight he went toe to toe with a level 3 and almost pulled off an upset kill.

Oh, and Tifereth you're right. The Suicide Squad does rule. And your clan is pretty decent too.

Back when I was level 0 and low 1, I agreed with you. Cross level missions where the absolute stupidest thing ever, however, if you don't like them, don't join them. The arena is a option, or you can wait a few minutes and refresh the mission page.
Once you get up to level 3 though, cross level missions will be how you make the most XP.
But, as much as you hate cross level missions, it's your own fault for joining them. If you're not on dialup, you can check who's in the missions and see if it's something you can make some XP off of or not. Plus, how do you think we feel when a mission fills up with low level bots on our side, then the other side fills up with the max level bots. Kinda annoying, but something you take the risk of when joining the missions.
And the risk does pay off.

That is exactly what I'm talking about. And that is what is happening to me more times than not. And if I'm one of the first few to join that mission I don't have the option to bail out. The risk does NOT pay off because instead of spending an hour in the CR, I could be out earning more XP.

Well the same can happen in non cross level missions, so it doesn't make a differnece 1 way or another...

Something that's been suggested before and i'd like to see more single level missions as well.
Plus if you're deploying 6 bots and only one mission is available having more than 1 mission generate at a time would be a lot less time consuming than having to refresh, deploy, refresh, deploy ... 5 times!

Try being a high level Autobot with less active backup to call on...

Ya, taking a look at that again, it's not really a good phrase-- maybe a better way to put it is: "Messing up the gameplay for me."..
Anyway...
So you're saying you'd want more single level missions instead of crosslevel?
Dude, you smite me in the crosslevel missions most of the time that I see you in there.. and there's little fun in beating up the same level opponent when you can go for more.. like Dreadwind said:
Exactly.
I know the risks of joining a 3-5 because my 3's probably will not stand a chance against a stacked row of 4's and 5's cons in a 3-5 when I might have 3's and 4's bots for back up... or worse, no backup at all. The same goes for 3-7 and 1-10, but sometimes I do the check-the-mission-before-i-join bit...
http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar ... _id=330727 - and to prove chris' point.. the lv 2 cons got wiped out pretty much in a lv 2 only mission.

It happens to the 'Cons too, depending on the time of day. I can't count how many L7-exclusive missions I've fought against 2 - 4 Autobots on my own. But then, I live for putting my characters in missions where they'll be outnumbered.
At any rate, I like the cross-levels. If it's too "risky", either don't join them at all or hold off on just throwing characters into them. Wait long enough and either you'll see that the mission is going to be lop-sided and not worth it or the generator will probably spit out a single-level.

Then maybe the problem isn't the cross level missions, but your configurations.

To be honest, configurations don't mean a whole lot in HMW. The RNG is a bit too random for any one configuration to be consistently effective...

Now who started that?

Still, Tif, your a level five ang getting 7,000. Scaled down, a level 1, me, it's only 1400, which, though roughly two to three times my average, still isn't worht the fact That I haven't made out with half that in the 1-3s and have to peel my bots off the wall.

I didn't know I earned more XP for damaging a higher level than me. I just like the chance to slag the higher ups and a chance that one of my lvl 1's will last long enough to get get a shot off. Destroy Autobot Factories is great for that and my CR cost is low enough my lvl 0's cover that no prob.

I disagree with that. While it's true you're not going to get maximum XP all the time, or even half the time, you can consistantly pull in good XP with a good configuration. There will always be the 0 XP missions with the RNG. I don't know of a way to avoid that, but I'm doing pretty consistantly well with most of my team.

The more u advance in the game, the higher ur average xp becomes, 1400 for level 1 is really good.
Have u tried to change ur configs?. Besides i used that example bc the person who started this thread has higher bots than mine, so it would be pointless to show a low level mission, thats why i posted a medium level

Doesn't matter what your configuration is, it all depends on the bots you face. Just because BOT A and BOT B might be the same level as each other doesn't mean that they're equally easy to kill...

Yeah yeah, great for a lower level to hit a level higher than it, blah blah blah, xp gain is worth it blah blah blah.
Consider this then.
A 1-10 mission, one side has a mix of high levels, 10, 8, 6's & 5's. The other side has one high level and a bunch of level 1's who are in it for the xp gain.
Know what's going to happen? Those level 1's are going to get slaughtered leaving the high level all on it's own.
So what? You earnt a nice amount of xp by scraping that level 10? Good on ya! But what happens when it becomes about territories and resources? Are people going to be able to set aside their own personal gain and glory for the betterment of their faction? Are people going to stop to consider "hey, if I go in that mission there's a chance to earn a lot of xp, on the other hand if we lose that mission we lose this sector, I should stay out of it and leave it for someone stronger to fight"? I some how doubt it.
And frankly that's why we need more single level missions because there's getting to be too many people diving into missions in the hope of a quick high xp fix and not caring whether they win or lose, just as long as they earn the xp.
