Wow, those just brought back some memories. I have the same robots I got during the mid-1980s that were gas station promotions--either Esso or Shell.
I'm sure the molds were probably used for a lot of things, though. There were a bunch of those truck-guys that would spit out sparks when you'd rev up their wheel (just a little flint mechanism in there). At the time they weren't tied into any series, just banking on the popularity of TF.

The robot mode of that red one kinda reminds me of the transformation of Star Convoy... Just the arms mainly.

They're definitely those Esso robots that were out in the 80's. I've got about six of them including the two you have a picture of.
There was more than one like the red truck mold, they just switched what was on the back from a hook to a cement mixer, etc.
