if devastro was in the sequel the voice for him would be bonecrushers voice simaler and almost dead on to the orginal to the generation one version or just save money and take clips form the cartoon series.

Arthur Burghardt should return to play Devastator if he is put in the sequal, I am not talking about Brawl either.

Dang, I've never seen one butcher Devastator's name so badly and so much dargosn! :)

Anyhow, my vote could only go to Arthur Burghardt. I don't think he's a big enough name to land a role in something as big as a Transformers movie. Even so he's the only one I think is right for the job. I'm a little biased though!

Use sound clips from the G1 cartoons?

You could just as well superimpose cartoon images of all the TFs over the live action.

Do you mind if I use that line if I'm ever in a similar debate? :P

not at all =D

Seriously guys, the G1 love can only go so far. It's not a re-make, it's a new take on the franchise which pays homage to the source.
That means stuff like a red/blue OP who turns into a truck, not a red/blue OP who turns into a 80's cab-over-engine truck with trailer.
Ratchet is gentle and a skilled medic. Ironhide is tough and agressive. Jazz is the laid-back guy who doesn't take things too seriously. Bumblebee is the youngster who likes to hang out with the humans.

Megatron is a egomaniacal lord of destruction and chaos, he despises Earth and its inhabitants and wants to rule the galaxy. Starscream has a sinister voice, turns into a jet, disappoints his boss and chickens out in the end. Frenzy is a tiny partner TF who ejects from his master to fulfill his operations. Bonecrusher is all about destruction and showing-off as he blasts his way through human stuff. Brawl is a tough tank with a hothead attitude and plenty 'o guns.

That's 10 TransFormers largely based on their G1 namesakes. You want blocky undetailed robots and outdated altmodes with that?

As for Barricade, Blackout and Scorponok, these are largely new characters, although Scorp is similar to Ravage in concept. Blackout is very similar to Soundwave judging his rank, robot design and colours, his ejecting partner, sheir size and loyalty to Megatron (says "All hail Megatron!" and sneaks up on OP to help Megs out) Barricade has got an Energon namesake (Japanese Onslaught) but is altogether on of the few non-G1 characters in this film.

My 2 cents:

Devastator was a powerful tool of the Constructicons more than anything. He's merely meant to put the odds in the Decepticons favor, though the Autobots usually find some way of beatting him. He destroys things. Thats his function. And you have to remember he's limited mainly to what the six components can agree upon. So he'd really lack in the personality and intellect department. He doesn't need a voice as long as he gives the Autobot a hard time and trashes things to hell.

Devastator for a TF movie is possible. But it's a crapload of work creating three different forms that the charatcer can fluidly switch to. Who knows, maybe this Writters Strike will give the art department more time to get creative with such a concept.

Rushie: Scorponok is far from a new character. He was first used in the final episodes of the original TF series. By hismelf he didn't have a personality, much like movie Scorponok, though G1 Scorponok, was much much larger and could easily overpower a group of Autobots. He followed commands from Zarak. Movie Scorponok most likely followed commands from Blackout. They're basically similar, lacking a personality, limited to only the orders given to them.

Yeah I know the Decepticon Headmaster Commander, but he, along with the BW and Energon namesakes just seemed too different from Movie Scorps to call him a homage or new take on a character. G1 Scorponok (when bondeed with his Nebulon Headmaster) was an all-powerful warlord who demanded awe and respect and sometimes even ruled above Galvatron in the Japanese anime.

Devastators Voice

Postby punisher3564 » Sun Nov 18, 2007 6:35 pm

How about Michael Clarke Duncan? (Kingpin or the big guy in the green mile) just deepen it a bit more and add in some electronic noise and you'd almost have it

He doesn't need any voice. All he needs to do is to create havoc and destruction along his way. However, maybe computer sound effects could make him better (like Blackout's voice).
