If you HATED the Twins (Skids, Mudflap), you will HATE the Dinobots
I for one did not mind the twins especially when they are bouncing off jokes on Leo (who i thought was irritating). All in all, I liked them. But if Dinobots do make appearance in Transformers 3, there will be no doubt that they will be the "Twins 2.0" (x100). Anyone expecting the Dinbots to be ex-special ops Transformers that speak King James English are really naive to think that. Just watch the G1 cartoon and realize that they were there to appeal to a kid's facination with dinosaurs and often used for comic relief.

what makes you think people thought they would be smart in the movies? I for one really don't want the dinobots in the movies they always annoyed me in the G1 cartoons and in animated.

Agreed. Dinobots in the movieverse would be anepic fail. I really, really hope they don't include them.

Plus how would you have enough time to introduce them or wrap a story round them.

I don't necessarily want to see the Dinobots. Just Grimlock.
I'd be happy if he was a monster truck with a tyrannosaur motif.

that would actually be a workable way of doing it. I would love to see Grimlock, and he would NEED to be an amazing bad-ass. Monster truck would be a great alt mode for him. That would actually be awesome.

King James English....ha ha ha.
Well considering how far Bay is willing to take liberties with any number of characters....I wouldnt be surprised if they did. In fact I would be more surprised if Bay ended up helming the 3rd film...and they didnt! I mean Jetfire wasn't scottish or "THAT" old from the G1 series. Devastator wasn't a multicolored Gorilla. Skids and Mudflap didn't look as if their heads went through a compactor. So on and so forth.
I can see Grimlock being this savage character. I wrote this in another thread ages ago but have no patience to go looking for it. But basically he's more of a Barbarian, a Conan or Tarzan.....being I see bots like Ravage and others being more of the cybertronian wildlife....trained for battle. Grimlock reminds me of this character (If he were to recieve a movie treatment) that perfers the wildlife and has this abandon of civilization. So he's this savage character who just loves to fight. It's what he does, it's all he knows.
And thats why the Autobots don't call on him until the lubrication really hits the fan. He's their weapon X....he doesn't even scan enough of the human language to sound articulate, only enough to communicate because thats all he needs, other then that he just wants to fight. He lives for the next fight, and when there's none he's just roaming around with the rest of the wilderness.
For me, I'm all about seeing movie-verse Grimlock/Conan. Sporting a dino alt mode and a robot mode because again, Gimlock isn't covert. He's your berserker. So it's only natural he would pick an alt mode which would only add to his fighting prowess. Hes not worried about hiding or blending in, he wants the enemy to notice him. It's as if he's transforming into a T-Rex or an adaptation of a T-Rex form and roaring on top of hilltop to bring on all comers.
And no, I really couldn't hate nothing more then I hate the twins....I don't even hate movie Devastator as much as the twins...at least not till the third film comes out. Then I'm sure something else will pop up which I will hate equally more that some producer or director or writer mucked up royally.
And to note, I'm not a big follower of the Transformer mythos, so I am open to interpretations. But if there was one character I did love, it was Grimlock. So if they do include him and he does end up being frakked I'm just going to wipe all this from memory and go about as if there is only one movie that ever came out. The First Transformers movie.
One last thing, my dream scene would be the Dinobots taking on the Predacons....and the Predaking. That would make my day. If the third movie was only this, I would be more then fine with it.

Josh

I'd like to see Grimlock handled in the way he was in War Within and Dark Ages. Where he's crude, and not the smartest TFer on the block, but while he can't express what he's thinking in deep concepts he always cuts to the quick of the matter.
As for his alt form, I'd say either Monster Truck or for those of you who remember him....CRUSHASAURUS!
He lands too close to a Monster Truck rally and copies the giant "robot" he sees destroying cars.

I could see them bring in Grimlock, and skip the rest of the dinobots. Slag was only other one I really liked anyways. Rest were ok, but Grimlock was only one who really has done anything noteable with in any mediums. I wouldnt want to see his role be comedy relief, but rather someone to cause the autobots to question their allegiance I thought that might be a good theme for the next film. (why shockwave would be a good choice for the decepticons.)
I could live with either a T rex or a monster truck that looks like a dinosaur. The monster truck idea might actually result in a larger robot. As a T rex, he d only be about 25 feet tall in robot mode. I suppose they could upgrade him to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tyrannosaurus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giganotosaurus
Or
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinosaurus
Since both are larger than a T rex. The spine of a spinosaurus could be made into a cool weapon too heh. Since scale matters in these movies the dinosaur picked makes a difference. As a T rex he d be about same size as Ironhide. I suppose if hes a berserker and has a wolverine like attitude, the smaller size could be played up like that.
As for Predacons, they d never work for that reason. Real life animals that make up Predaking besides may be a rhino would be too small. More like Predaduke heh. So far combiner thing hasnt really panned out, since its hard make a robot that can turn into a fully workable limb and into a robot mode that looks like something. Both the movies toys and the studio ran into this issue. They eventually just decided to make them seperate entities.(likely why Prime only steals select parts off Jetfire due to their size difference, and the arcee team dropped their combiner angle.) Which was ok in my mind, but just be prepared since thats likely to happen for additional combiner teams.
G1 ignored scale, and didnt use only the existing parts of whatever the alt form was to make the limbs of combiner teams. They have extra pieces to make them infact as toys. (such as hands and feet.) So dont apply the same logic of well it worked in G1, to live action where they maintain scale. Bruticus in particular have get a new alt form for blast off, as a space shuttle, he d be much bigger than the rest of the team and could end up biggr than devastator alone. Some tweaking would need be done. (besides replacing brawl whos dead.)

Lastjustice,
Hi! Ah ol Spinosaur Egypticus and Giganatosaurus. Did you hear about the possible T-Rex superspecies, Tyrannosaur Imperial? Or was it Imperialsaur Rex? I forget, bunch of controversy being the skeletal remains save for the femur I think were destroyed. Pitty. But if the scale were right, Imperial Rex would be right up there with the super predators.
I'd say, honestly, T-Rex would be more then large enough, in his alt mode compared to the Peter Built and GM's Truck, the Rex is still taller then both upon seeing both the cars live and the Skeletal Remains on display at the Natural History Museum in Cali. Then if you have Grimlock Transform from that already taller alt mode, well he'd be a note worthy beastie. Plus, T-Rex pretty much ate cars....just look at Jurassic Park or The Lost World. Poor bus never stood a chance
However, if we want him taller and bigger, I'd say take a page out of Ravages hand book. Ravage was only the size of a panther roughly, and in the film he's a pretty big kitty being issues about the cassette form were obviously not a factor. Why not make Grimlocks alt mode based off a saurian frame...but still be its own beast. So we can have a 30-40 foot Robot Dinosaur, which would then translate into a bigger Grimlock! I mean Scorpinock was based of a scorpion, but I've never seen a bug that size....ever! But Giganatosaurus would be awesome, being it's huge and just mean looking.
As for the Predacons, thats a wish list. I really don't trust Michael with them, but in issues of mass shifting, and scale, Devastator broke all these rules in the movie so why stick to them in the third film? But if ya want big Predacons, why not just turn to prehistoric beasts like the Wooly Rhino or the American Lion, The Teratorn, Long Horned buffalo, and being there's another feline based predacon either swap it for another form like the Shortfaced Bear or keep on another feline mode....just drastically different in features.
But again, moot. I really don't trust them with combiners. Not because it's an issue of complexity, hell Power Rangers have been doing it forever with guys in suits....so to say ILM can't pull it off proper is really a bad sign for them. No, I think it was more of a marketing ploy....or a coverup for bad plot holes (How can we have the constructicons fighting the army and still form Devastator and destroy a Pyramid at the same time? I know, make clones! Yay) Ugh.....so sad.
Ha! CRUSHASAURUS! I do remember, is it still around? Grimlock being Crushasaurus....or a really awesome upgrade of it, would be pretty fantastic ha ha ha.

If they put Grimlock in Transformers 3 i still say he should be a triple change. Monster Truck Vehicle mode, Dinosaur mode would give him a really powerful energy weapon along the lines of Godzilla and then Alt mode with the sword.

I doubt whole heartedly that anyone would relly hate the dinobots. They were always fan favorites and, though a bit annoying, did always what they meant to do. Sell the story. Even if only one appeared I would love to see Grimlock and have him mention the others as either being killed in battle or having left them on a distant planet to arrive on Earth to help Optimus Prime and the others. His alt mode should be a mechanical representation of his Dino mode similar to how Ravage and Scorponok were built, but he should be able to transform into a robot.

It would blend in pretty well with those Japanese trucks covered in lights and airbrushed to death

Well, if you saw a truck that looked just like that, would you think its a giant alien robot?
Id like to see what the Dinobots would look like in the movie, and maybe have some of the toys of them, but probably not have them in the actual movie.

I'm just saying it's a bit too conspicuous.

Yeah, like that's ever stopped Michael Bay before!
LOL, RIGHT!! Ive heard some complaining about not wanting Unicron bc he would come out of nowhere and yet thats EXACTLY what the Fallen did in ROTF!!! No mention of Megatron having a master in the first one with every indication Megs is the defacto Decepticon leader and than BAM... all of a sudden, ROTF comes out and its emperor Papafallen....
Bay would only ruin any Dinobot, Predacon, and any other beloved character. Only thing theyve gotten right was Prime and BB is better than a VW
