Illinois Transformers Sightings
Re: Illinois sightings.
I got a tip from my hommie at tfw2005 that the golf walamrt has one deuxe bumblebee. I would go but they come out in less than a week.

* Sigh *
I think I'm about to give up on ROTF stuff until the official release date. The "we can't sell them to you" bit is getting really old. I was very excited tonight when I found the new ROTF Legends figures and the Voyager class wave 1 at the Des Plaines Kmart tonight. Lo and behold, no dice at the register. I didn't realize that Kmart was sophisticated enough to pull that stunt with the release date as well. So I left all twelve figures at the cash register. With about 18 days to go, I think I'm going to spend my time not looking for ROTF figures unless they show up at a chain that doesn't check the release date.

Unfortunately I don't. I don't think it matters though since the stores' computers can't sell us the figures, which is ridiculous in my opinion. Nothing like punishing customers for a store's mistake!
The good news is that we only have 2.5 weeks until the figures are officially released!

Anyone find the Preview Soundwave figure yet? At one point, Soundwave and Bumblebee were rumored to come out today but I don't think that ever officially came from Hasbro.

I haven't been out yet today but I will be later and we'll see. I tend to think it will be tomorrow and not today. Remember when the first movie line came out the release date was a Saturday...and that seems to be the magic day of the week for most of the major new toy lines.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...

I've been regularly checking the stores in my area and have found nothing new. Most of the Targets have been clearing the TF aisle out, as in no deluxe class figures of any line. I thought the preview toys were supposed to be out by now.

ARGH! WTF?! I just drove all over creation in the rain looking for the Preview wave, and NOTHING! I went to TRU and Walmart on Butterfield, and the Target on 63rd. Nothing.

Hm ... sounds like I won't be getting a deluxe Soundwave tonight. This makes me sad.
The good news is that we'll have all that we want in a little over two weeks!

OK, a little ROTF redemption. Target in Villa Park, on North Ave., had all the new Robot Heroes sets except for Bumblebee/Long Haul. I bought Optimus Prime/Blackout and Megatron/Skids. Fun.
I'm going to hit TRU and a couple mroe Targets/Walmarts tomorrow with my kids while my wife is at work, looking for Preview Soundwave. Last time I did that, tho, the girl ratted me out.

Well, so much for preview figures by the 15th. Was that ever actually stated by Hasbro or was it just a rumor that somehow got turned into news?

Not sure, but hell, Movie 1's preview figs were out for a long time before the full line, IIRC. They'll hit eventually, I guess. I'm still torn about what to get on day 1, tho. I'll need about $150 to get what I really want, not sure I can swing that all at once like I did w/ the first movie toys.

Yeah, the amount of figures due to be released on the 30th is massive. I'm afraid to see what my bill will be on that day, which I guess will be June 1st since I'll be at Botcon that weekend. That will be a very, very expensive TF week between the movie products and Botcon. Yikes!

IF anyone is interested, Owen Center Rd. Walmart in Rockford has those Gravitybot things. That was the only product they had out for the film, and I have no idea if they were purchasable or not.

Dude, nice to see another Rockford collector here. I hit the State St. and Northridge WalMarts, both Targets, and the TRU and saw jack squat...though TRU had Optimus and Bumblebee ROTF costumes for kids.

Nice to see another Rockford Seibertronian too, man. And you just saved me some gas and time. I was working up the ambition to hop in the car and hunt...but now I don't have too.
Think I'll just hit Northridge and grab a Magnus.

Just found and bought the only ROTF Voyager class Demolisher at the Golf Mill Walmart.
That was the only ROTF products I saw there other than the Voice Changer helmets (Prime and Bumblebee).

Is it the 30th yet?

ACtually, I believe the release date is the 31st. I was in Wal Mart late after a gig the other night and saw RotF cases unopened on the pallet of toys to be put out overnight. They all had "Do not shelve before May 31, 2009" on them...then again it may have been the 30th. The stocker I talked to said they already had 4 PALLETS of ROTF stuff in the back.

Well, I "wasted" about 6 or 7 hours of my day today hopelessly hunting for ROTF figures despite the fact that I knew it was a futile hunt that was going to end with nothing more than a May 30th release date.
I hit the following stores this afternoon/evening:
Walmart - Golf Mill
Walmart - Rolling Meadows
Walmart - Palatine
Walmart - Schaumburg
Walmart - Elk Grove Village
Walmart - off Lake / 53
Walmart - off North
Walmart - Elgin
Walmart - Algonquin
Toys R Us - Schaumburg
Toys R Us - Golf Mill
Target - Schaumburg (Higgins)
Target - Schaumburg (Barrington)
Target - Algonquin
Meijer - Elgin
Meijer - Rolling Meadows
Meijer - Algonquin
Kohls - off Dundee
Kmart - Des Plaines
I found Demolisher at Golf Mill Walmart ... I should've stopped after that because it was around 2 hours into my hunt today and would've saved me 4.5 hours to work on galleries instead of wasting time driving. I found the prequel novel, ROTF "The Veiled Threat", at the Elk Grove Village Walmart (only place I looked because it had the book section immediately when you walk in).
The Elgin Meijer had pegs and prices for all of the different ROTF class sizes from Legends, RH, DC, VC, LC and more. I asked an employee if they had any in the back and he said they'd be available on Monday. I have a feeling that won't be the case but who knows.
Following a tip from Sidewave on TFW, I ended up at the Algonquin Meijer. I talked to two employees that met Sidewave's description ... the guy I talked to said that there was no way they can sell the figures prior to the May 30th date. He even mentioned that their store would be fined if the figures were sold early. If Sidewave got ROTF figures there yesterday night or this morning, it sounds like he got really lucky. I shouldn't have gone out there after Gonzo reported (on TFW) going out there earlier in the day but I had to see for myself since I was in Elgin anyways.
The 12 figures I saw at Kmart is Des Plaines earlier in the week that they wouldn't sell me were nowhere to be found today. I thought about asking but then I didn't see the point since their computers wouldn't let me buy them.
Even got desperate and stopped at a Kohl's for shits and giggles to see if by any odd chance if they'd have any ROTF products in stock.
I did see the ROTF Mr Potato Head Bumblespud at several of the Walmarts but even that product was restricted.
* sigh *
At least I got Demolisher today so the day wasn't a complete waste. He is a very interesting Transformer to say the least. His transformation is very complex, or at least it seemed that way after transforming it once while following the instructions (same with Sideways come to think of it).
Working on galleries throughout the weekend as time permits with having a newborn daughter (who was with momma and her family earlier today).
--------------------------
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I saw TFA Cliffjumper and Dirge at a variety of the Targets and Walmarts above. I'm pretty sure the Barrington Rd Target and the Algonquin Target had them but I can't remember which Walmarts had them. I think the Elgin one had them but I can't really recall after going to so many stores.

So how is he?
His transformation is crazy (but in a good just-follow-the-instructions kind of way)! The treads that turn into wheels in robot mode transformation is pretty unique amongst Transformers. I love when I get a new Transformer figure that has something really unique or original to its transformation process. When you own 2500+ Transformers, it's hard to impress - but the new movie figures are all rather challenging and very unique. Sideways also stands out for his transformation process despite the fact that I'm not a big fan of his robot mode yet.
The thing that's frustrating about getting Demolisher is that Starscream, Prime and Ironhide were all there at some point, as well as Soundwave. I was so bummed to not get Soundwave last week. I've got the other 5 wave 1(ish) deluxe figures except for Soundwave.
