Also here is what the official hasbro site says about the premium line...they mention Leader class and deluxe as well...!!!!!!!!
This collection of the best characters across Movie Deluxe, Voyager and Leader classes features premium deco treatments and finishes to create the ultimate movie figures.
skywarp-2 wrote:Also check this review of Ratchet out.. the reviewer site's a difference in the Premium Ratchet..not sure if this is mistransformation on his part or if this is indeed the case.. let me know what you guys know about this:
http://tformers.com/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=852The robot mode is where this one has some added benefit. Strangely enough, I also found a slight improvement with the mold. On the original, the windshield split and sat on his sides. With the metallic version, you can actually swing the glass all the way to his backside. This does help out the look quite a bit. Not sure if this was also incorporated into Rescue Ratchet as well. If someone knows, please tell.

skywarp-2 wrote:Honestly, even if they do the Rescue Ratchet and Thundercracker as Metallics... I'd still buy them...
but that means I would want to sell off my regular ones..
Skowl wrote:Sportimus Prime wrote:You know, nowhere does it say "Metallic Voyager Optimus Prime/Thundercracker/Rescue Ratchet". It just says "Voyager Optimus Prime/Thundercracker/Rescue Ratchet". Just because they are on SE boxes doesn't mean those three are also going to be metallic. And, looking at the pictures, they don't look metallic at all. I think this is a bogus rumor based on misunderstanding.
I'm part of the news crew, and even I have to agree.
Nothing I see here tells me these are "Premium" series TFs(Thundercracker? Really?). The photos don't prove anything, and the word of a guy who works at a store isn't really reliable. I just tonight talked to a manager from Wal-Mart who tried to convince me that a loose, busted-up Ultimate Bumblebee they found in their stock room was an extremely rare Transformers from an old series...

Let's go over the facts here for a moment.
1.) It was officially stated that Best Buy would be carrying a line of exclusive "premium" repainted figures. Not just Megatron and Ratchet.
2.) Skywarp is taking this from info he was given from the manager, and the computer. (I repeat, info from the manager and the computer, not Skywarp himself.)
3.) Hasbro is known for odd moves involving repaints and remolds, no matter the retailer.
It's understandable to be skeptical, it's understandable to be confused.
However, it is *not* understandable why everyone is dogpiling on Skywarp. He only delivered the info he was given, he didn't make it up (he has no reason to, plus his track record proves that he isn't a troll) and if anyone's to blame...blame Best Buy's computers and the manager that gave him this info without more substantial proof.
You people owe Skywarp an apology. It's one thing to be angry about the situation, but it's another to take it out on him.
"Don't kill the messenger" does anyone get that? What is this? A firing squad? He doesn't owe you anything (no one owes you anything, as a matter of fact), and you need to quit acting like it.
What's wrong with you people? Disgusting behavior, people. Disgusting.
#1 is wrong. Hasbro officially said that these two Best Buy figures are the first releases of the Premium Series. No where does it state that Best Buy will be the exclusive vendor of the entire Premium Series.JTKranix wrote:Where was it officially stated that Best Buy would carry the entire premium line?
Also, I'm not going to apologize. I didn't do anything other than say I don't believe it. I didn't call him a liar.
I was incorrect on the Best Buy thing. I misread the news blurb earlier. I was wrong on that one, sorry. The rest of it however, plus the fact that there is going to be a premium line is still truth.
You didn't call him a liar Kranix, but you're right there along with the rest of the people ready to get out the pitchforks and lynch him.

Back of regular release Thundercracker.
Note the image is identical.
It's Hasbro saying "hey, these are also in stores kiddies!"
Nobody noticed that the Megatron on the back of the Best Buy packaging was BLUE and used the OLD HEAD?

ah so I see, the back of the packaging isn't any indication...
So it can go either way then.. No one can say for sure they aren't producing them, just as no one can say for sure they are..
But I know what I saw on the Computer screen, best buy is definitely getting optimus Prime next.. whether he's a Metallics or just a Voyager remains to be seen.. but I was only giving you what I saw and was told..
Besides this manager is the "store" Manager and not some department manager.. plus he's a nice guy and really knows his stores merchandise.. especially when he went into the whole Master replicas thing about the light sabers they once sold a few years back in connection with Star Wars episode 3..so I believe him.. skepticism is okay..I never said you couldn't be skeptical.. I just said don't attack me for relaying info, convoluted, or not...

yeah availability was a pain in the arse, and really did hurt alot of collectors who missed out on their opportunity...
I got mine, but I wish some of you who missed them could have gotten them too, they really are quite nice..

I am frustrated by this. No US retail exclusive should need to be bought on eBay, and yet, with all the Walmart Exclusives, and now the Best Buy Exclusives, I have not seen at retail at all.
So if these were BB exclusives, I would be mad, if they are going to continue to be movie toys I will be less angry, but if they go back and do others from previous lines, or future lines, and make them BB exclusives, I'm going to blow my damn top.

Then get ready for some top-blowin', because you can rest assured that Hasbro is LOVING this and will do it again as soon as humanly possible. It generates automatic value and desire for a product without them even having to advertise it or pay for much retail shelf-space on it. It's a toy distributor's wet dream. Watch it happen. None of the BS that Hasbro has been pulling in the past 6 months is by accident, it has been a business strategy from the get go. Create fan demand and then seem unable to fulfill it, thereby creating desire and value, ensuring the future of said product line. It's the same as the "new coke" scheme that worked so well for coca-cola in the 1980's. Noone cared about original coke until they "took it away".

ROFL. I'm sorry, but this has to be one of the best line of advertising BS ever. If you remember, when we first heard about the metallic specials, original ratchet was shelfwarming the walmarts. The conversation probably went like this.
Hasbro Employee 1: So WTF do we repaint Megatron as? Crappy-looking-bird-ticon?
Hasbro Employee 2: Let's just do a robovision version like prime.
1: I don't know if that's enough. He's getting a lot of hate from the fans.
2: Well, what about making him super shiny and calling him a fan favorite.
1: Great idea, let's do the same thing for ratchet, he's selling the slowest out of the voyagers we have now.
2: What about ironhide, maybe the same for him, or make him red G1-style.
1: Whatever, he's the best voyager out right now. We could paint him blue and they'd still buy him.
(three months later)
2: The suckers are eating this metallic repaint up, let's do the same thing for all the crappy characters, keep calling them fan favorites, and make it a whole premium exclusive line.
1: Great!!! I was kinda stressed out about how to re-release the payload mold. Metallic premium Payload it is. Can you say cha-ching?
2: Thundercracker's doing well. Should we do skywarp next.
1: Nah, we already done the mold three times and with battle-damage Starscream, battle-damage G1 Starscream, battle-damage metallic G1 starscream, and Sunstorm coming out nobody'll want a skywarp.
2: Next problem then, we've got the battle pack bumblebees for January and February 08. Which 10 bumblebees are we releasing the 10 months after that.
